Great jazz, great drinks, no cover. We're from out of town, and we were staying about 2 blocks further down Haight at the Red Vic. We stopped in merely to have a last drink before going to the hotel, and considered as just a bar the place was very satisfactory. The drinks, the atmosphere, the staff, and the other customers were all very pleasant and congenial.

Then the band came on, and we had to stay to listen. It seemed like their first set was just OK, nothing fantastic. But they got better and better as the evening progressed. A highlight was when the trumpet player put a mute in his horn and started doing Miles. Awesome!

Bar only accepts cash, but there are ATMs nearby. Public transport or taxi highly recommended.

Great place to arrive early and snag a seat, then stay for the show.

Chill neighborhood bar features warm, retro feel and live entertainment.. Stripped of pretense and heavy on charm, this smallish bar and lounge built in 1949 thrives on loyal patrons, local talent and laid-back vibe. Weekly live entertainment ranges from comedy to poetry to jazz and Brazilian music. Stylish, comfortable vintage furnishings include chrome and vinyl "dinette" sets, high-backed, round booths and square, leather-topped wooden bar stools. Service is friendly, perhaps a tad little too much so, as it can take a while to get your drink even when the bar is not crowded. When your turn comes, opt for a greyhound made with fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, a "Spa" Collins made with lemon juice and herbs, or the famous Bloody Mary, which apart from the vodka is made entirely from scratch.

Somethings don't change. I havent been to Deluxe in many years, but decided to swing by last Sunday. I am thrilled to report it was the same great bar it always was. Bartenders are friendly and personable, and the music was just plain great. If you havent been before definitely check it out, and if youve been away for too long, definitely go back now.

thats hep with an e, baby. why do you people do this to a great place to hang out. now it's gonna fill up with tourists from ohio looking for hippies. But now that its out of the bag, the atmosphere is very Rat Pack the drrinks are delicious, the crowd eclectic, and the bartenders, well they are some of the best ever to come down the pike.

Shake your money maker. "If you dig your jazz good, groovin, and swingin hard - see you down at the night-club!" That's from a young wise man and it is the god honest truth! I'm from LA and wish I lived in the city, because the Bay area music scene is what it's all about and The Deluxe has hosted some of the HOTTEST acts around.

Cool Vibes for Everyone!
