Even Macho dudes drink their Pink Concoctions!. great bar, great service, great location. the only thing I would change is the Juke Box; it needs some umph. The lack of choice music doesn't keep me from coming in here, though, cuz as I've said, the place is great.
possibly my favorite bar in the entire universe. that's right: universe.. I can't believe this place only has three reviews - this is possibly my favorite bar of all time. The atmophere is relaxed and friendly - it's the perfect place to grab a few drinks with friends any day of the week. It's definitely not a meat market - although people are friendly you don't feel like you're being evaluated the minute you walk in. The jukebox has a great mix of alternative, indie rock, and good hip hop and customers happily pick the tunes. You can order any drink you want, but you should at least try the yummy rum punches from the bowls on the bar - I like the red. You can get here conveniently after work via the N or any of the Haight Street buslines.
Excellent service, fantastic drinks!. A great place to drink, and the best palce to learn about rum. Everyone has a good time here it seems, and the locals are very friendly. The upstairs is often empty and a good place to chill if the bar is hopping (as it seems to be on weekend nights). We'll be back to try some more rum punches soon!
great sundays. Nothing like spending a few hours bsing with friends here on the couch and watching the parade of people outside on a nice sunday afternoon.
Power lounging happens at this lively Upper Haight rum house..
The Scene
The decor is early Victorian, but the atmosphere is young and somewhat upwardly mobile. Stuffed with antique couches and internists from UCSF, Hobson's gets raucous on the weekends (it's a wonder the faux-Tiffany lamps survive). Regulars grab a coveted perch by the full-length windows to peep the Haight Street goings-on, or linger at the expansive bar to savor some heady conversation. The upstairs balcony helps folks keep tabs on the eligible, well-built patrons.
The Draw
Rum by the barrel-full is the house specialty--including its own brand--and the mixologists behind the bar are experts on the merits of punch, warm or cold. They also know their way around a mai tai and zombie. There's also plenty of beer on tap and shelf at hand. Bartenders pick the tunes, which range from college rock to hip-hop to cheeky retro flashbacks.
Any night of the week!. This place always has people in there enjoying all their tastey drinks! It's fun early in the night, and late at night, and always has a good crowd.
