What People Are Saying About Bambino's Ristorante

In Short – This dimly lit, spacious restaurant lures in both couples on first dates and groups looking for large portions at affordable prices. Three types of bread, olives and olive oil arrive at the table as soon as you're seated, but antipasti like pear, pecan and cambozola salad and roasted garlic and brie still entice. Thin-crust pizzas topped with artichoke hearts and portabellas, among other gourmet options, are a main course highlight.

Editor's Tips

The Extras:
Bambino's has a revolving list of lunch and dinner nightly specials, like the spinach fettuccine with bay scallops, shitake mushrooms, leeks and red bell peppers in a light creamy dill sauce, that are consistently worth trying.
Save Time:
This restaurant is one of the few in the neighborhood that can usually accommodate large groups, even on weekends, without a reservation.
Know Before You Go:
Bambino's delivers both their brunch and dinner menu to residences in the neighborhood.

Sevice with an Attitude

by p00kie at Citysearch

On four occasions, because it is convenient, we have experienced a consistent "take it or leave it" attitude and a casual snottyness from the wait staff. If you don't carefully watch your plate it will be scooped up by the table-clearers and be gone.

A bottle of wine is a far better bargain than their niggardly pours for a glass. Am tempted to bring a measuring cup as the pour is not more than 6 ounces, at best.

Most annoying is that the front door allows blasts of chilly SF air to flood the restaurant, chilling the food as well as the patrons. If you sit by the front door you will have a miserable experience and your jackets and fleeces will come in handy. Always bring a warm wrap to Bambino's.

Food is good, menu has something for everyone, so if you don't mind the snotty serving staff, you will be OK here.

We will not be back, as there are plenty of Italian restaurants in the city that try hard, appreciate your business and want you to be pleased enough to return. Bambino's is not, unless you are OK with being treated without courtesyor apprreciation.

  • Pros: Good food and decent portions, but...
  • Cons: "We could care less attitude"

Great neighborhood restaurant

by twosome at Citysearch

This is one of our regular treats. The dinners are reasonable and the staff is excellent. This is also a great place to take kids. The staff will bring the children wads of pizza dough for play dough while you wait!

rude service

Very rude waitress. Good bread, great pastries. Service was very disappointing. Dining anywhere else in Cole Valley would be better.

  • Pros: good bread
  • Cons: poor service

horrible service

If you are looking for an "experience" Do not go here. Worst service I've ever had. Servers name was "angelina L." Too may great Italian restaurants in San Francisco that "get it"

  • Cons: service is the worst

Wonderful Italian food year after year

by baychick at Citysearch

I have been eating at Bambino's since I was a kid, and it never fails to disappoint and is always a favorite of my family and friends. Although it started out as a standard pizza restaurant, it has gotten a lot more upscale in recent years and now (with classier menu, more fine dining options, and dim lighting) is a great place for a romantic date. The food, especially the pastas and pizzas, is delicious, filling and always piping hot. They are also great for accomodating groups - I once had a birthday dinner here for 10 friends, and they made it easy.

  • Pros: delicious food, ambience, menu, service
  • Cons: parking, sometimes a long wait to be seated and for food to be served
