Good but overhyped – I've never understood why this place gets everyone so fanatical. The food is good, but it's overpriced for the portions. It's a long wait to eat there (consider takeout if you're close) and the wait staff isn't personable. I think this restaurant is resting on its laurels--and relying on limited competition.
Roomy, friendly, attentive, and flavorful – This place is roomy, friendly, and attentive. Overall, the food was very good. I had the scrumptious Saag Aloo with some naan and rice.
The spot is handicap accessible... sorta. When I went there was a huge booth seat blocking the front door. They moved it right away as soon as they saw that I was approaching with my chair; however, if that seat had been occupied for the way in and leaving... it would have been a big hassle for those seated at that spot.
There is no handicap accessbile way to the upstairs portion of the restaurant unless you have a chaperone willing to assist in pulling you up and and slowly lowering you down the tiny steps.
Handicap accessibility is somewhat lacking but the staff makes themselves pleasantly available to assist with finding you a spot.
Best Indian food in all of California – This place gets pretty busy and it's for a good reason - the food is excellent and the prices are incredible. The restaurant is small, but people get seated quickly. We made a reservation and got taken upstairs to this little area with really comfortable chairs. We had a party of six and they easily accommodated us. The service was great and we wouldn't go anywhere else in the Bay Area for Indian food after eating here!
Best Indian Restaurant found in San Francisco with excellent customer service – Best Indian Restaurant found in San Francisco. The staff was very freindly and the food was great. You have to wait cuz of the timing of the restaurant & sitting capacity. Wait is worth it cuz Food & Drinks are great. I loved the Lamb Boti Kabab, Ghost Karahi with their best wine recommended by the staff "Pinot Noir, Bouchard.Bugundy" from France. I really enjoyed my dinner.
Good think you don't know what goes on in the kitchen – Sure, the food is good, but this place is not the best. Lord knows there are tons of other choices in the Lower Haight.
Best Indian Food In the City... – I think this place has the best indian food in the city. You will have to wait a long time and you will have trouble finding parking but it's worth it. It's casual and the staff is always nice!
Great Customer Service, Delicious Food – This restaurant has the best and the variety of food. Very good customer service and very relaxing environment. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to enjoy the Indian Food. The staff is very freindly. Weekends are really busy so prefer to go during weekdays.
Best Indian in the city – Though this restaurant is slightly expensive, it is definitely worth it. The food is amazing and the service is quite excellent. The people are always friendly and the atmosphere is very warm. It is definitely bustling many nights a week but never too loud. I have been to many Indian restaurants in this city and Indian Oven is one of the very best. The food is not greasy, and it is always full of delectable spices.
You call this a Restaurant? – You call this a restaurant. Its a mad house! the service was horrible. The waiters are just taking your orders as fast as they can & trying to move on with other tables. Same was with the food person and the Bus boys. This happened to other tables around me. The food is ok. There are some dishes which are amazing, but there were some which had so much cream! It felt like as if i was just eating cream & no it was not a korma dish! IF you want to have a peaceful time with ur partner where u can actually talk without pretty much shouting, this is not the right place for u. I just dont know why people are so crazy for this restaurant. Long wait, extremely unsatisfied service and ok food. Never going back here again
Good Food, Service leaves a lot to be desired – I have eaten at the Indian Oven several times. Decent Value if you dont mind waiting.
They have a very poorly managed wait list. They make a good attempt to get everyone seated, but sometimes a "slick" party can get themseves seated without having to wait in the queue. Ive made reservations at this place as well; it appears to offer little or no advantage. In fact, it seems they almost take anyone's word that they have made a "reservation"
The wait time is longer than I would expect. They know that they have a cash cow but dont seem to staff properly. Additionally, for the extra money that you pay and in consideration of your wait, they should give you a free appetizer. How much could Papdam cost them? Tacky on their part.
I still like the place because of th location. Otherwise, I have had better.
