In Short – It's a no-nonsense shack that specializes in barbecue does most of its business in takeout. The menu centers on old standards--ribs, chicken, links and brisket--that are cooked over open coals. The house specialty is "short ends," the meatier ends of ribs that usually come out chewy, crispy and smoky. Sides include baked beans, potato salad and greens. Sweet potato pie and peach cobbler desserts are homemade.

THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL QUE. DA' PITT USES REAL WOOD AND YOU CAN SMELL IT FROM BLOCKS AWAY THE FIRST SIGN THAT YOU HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THIS PLACE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 45+ YRS LETTING YOU KNOW THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THE RIBS (SHORT ENDS) AND BEEF BRISKET ARE THE BEST THING ON THE MENU FILLED WITH SMOKE FLAVOR AND TENDER AS CAN BE. THE PLACE IS MORE A TAKE OUT SINCE THEY HAVE FEW TABLES. I HAD THE SAMPLER PLATE WITH RIBS, BEEF AND LINKS AND MY WIFE HAD A HALF ORDER OF BIRD THAT WAS JUICY AND GOLDEN. THIS IS HOW QUE SHOULD BE. HOT SAUCE IS NOT TO HOT BUT YOU WILL ENJOY IT LIKE YOU ENJOY LIFE (LOL). DONT LET THE OUTER LOOK OF THE BUILDING FOOL YOU IT'S THE BEST.

THEY EVEN HAVE A NEW WEB SITE USE TO BE CALLED BROTHER IN LAWS. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE IF YOU R A QUE PERSON. THE NEW NAME IS DA-PITT.

Best Damn BBQ in the city!!! They really Load their plates with heeps of meat!

by norcalfoodcritic

This historic and family owed BBQ hole in the wall used to be called Brother in Laws for over 50 years before selling it to the man who'd been manning the smoke grill for the past ten years. he and his wife LILLY, bought it about 1 year ago and nothing major has changed...he's still the cook. Though he did add Tri Tip and Baby Back Ribs to the menu...which are awesome! This place is great, and if you are too much of a wimp to get past the bars on the window and local thugs loitering in the parking lot....well all I can say is grow a pair or it's your loss. I walk to and from this BBQ Gem at all hours of the day at least once a month. Never had any issues, it is perfectly safe...well safe enough! That goes for what is out side the front door...what lies inside is friendly smiles and great (but slow) service.

The meat and sauce are great...the sides are not so great...but good enough not to ruin anything. They do not offer sandwiches which is a bummer as well. In a perfect world, there would be a BBQ joint that had Lilly's BBQ, Big Nates Sandwiches and Memphis Minnie's Side Dishes....add a Zeitgeist BBQ Burger and beer selection and you would have something very special.

Get over your phobia of 'scary black men' and go get the best BBQ in town...it is 2007, if you are scared, then there is something wrong with you....not them.

From...Just a small town boy, living in a lonely world who took the midnight train to Lilly's and left full, happy and in one piece.

  • Pros: Everything but the side dishes

Not To Die For

by yeezmon

The pork ribs are above average, but the sauce is a bit too thin. Good value for the money.
