Editorial Review for Pork Store Cafe – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
This casual but lively cafe is a morning-after mainstay for hung-over partygoers jonesing for some greasy grub. An all-day breakfast menu, stocked with starchy staples like enormous blueberry pancakes and hash browns served by the truckload, easily sate even the biggest appetites. There are also many veggie options. The rockin' staff makes sure patrons never see the bottom of their coffee mugs.

Great food and atmosphere. Pork Chops for Breakfast with Grits are a great way to recover from the night before. Some seating outside which is good if you have dogs. Bloody Mary's are good value.

I have been to the Haight Ashbury three times and each time, I return to the Pork Store for breakfast and I have yet to be disappointed. This must be the way a diner was during the days of my parents and others before me. I will admit that I do not get adventurous when it comes to the menu; bacon & eggs with hash browns are my typical fare (and the serings are large and healthy, from a male stand point anyway) but I LOVE this place! The price is affordavle and there are some who say the service might be lacking but when you have wall to wall people with a line out the door, it is hard to be overly cordial. Just the same, when I've been there, the girls have always taken the time to stop and chat (even if briefly). If you are able to make it to the Haight early (as in by 7 AM), you'll be able to have a more leisurely experience but whatever you do .... try and make the effort to stop by. I truly feel you won't be sorry!
Pros: Great Atmosphere in the best part of San Francisco
Cons: Get there early or else you will be scrambling for a seat
