In Short
Food is brought to a large array of indoor and outdoor tables at this expansive and cafe that's atypical for the neighborhood. Skylights filter in natural light across a bright interior of stainless steel, warm hardwoods and glass tiles. Food and coffee drinks are organic, meats are from Niman Ranch, and soups and dressings are crafted in-house. Other treats include fresh juices, smoothies, specialty sandwiches, salads and burgers and 10 types of omelets.

The Grind is an interesting little family owned coffee shop on the corner of Haight and Scott in the city. They offer coffees, pasteries, breakfast, and lunch. The lady behind the counter seemed nice enough. We had coffee and a lemon bar. She told me that the lemon bar was homemade. It was really good. But the coffee was on the weak side. Overall, it was a nice place. The service was friendly. I would visit again just to get my hands on that lemon bar. But I would not buy the weak coffee.

Espresso coffee, good unpretentious food...bagels, ometlets, scramblers or the best buy Grind Combo...sandwiches, pastries, excellent French Dip sandwich or French Burger...low cost--no table service, place your order at the counter and pick it up when the cook calls it out...indoor and outdoor tables. Parking is sometimes difficult in this neighborhood.

the guys that own this place also work there, which I think really helps the service.. it's quick and to the point, definite east coast feel there.. but hey, we are not there to be cheered up by the cooks intellect, it's his FOOD that is most important, and it is GREAT.. from bagels to burgers, and steaks to shakes, this place has grade A food.. coffee with my dog.. whereas the bitchy help at the rest of the neighborhood spots (ex. Bean There, Squat and Gobble) wouldn't even serve me, HELLO, I just need a coffee and I'm outta here!.. thanks Grind you ROCK! breakfast? Southwestern Omellete lunch?.. the French Burger, medium rare.. oh yes.. take me back to paris baby!.. mm mmmm good.. peace, go there.. haight/scott bp
