The Scene – This romantic neighborhood gem is nestled on an unassuming block and draws alert eyes with strings of white Christmas-style lights out front. Inside, a loft-like window peers onto the gold and red dining room--half occupied by a semi-exposed kitchen, the remainder features padded banquettes atop a checkered floor. Waitstaff will pour bargain glasses of wine to the rim, but service may be slow. – – The Food – French-influenced seafood is the specialty. The lightly breaded, greaseless crab cakes are the restaurant's signature dish (available as a starter or…
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- The prix-fixe menu is a steal (Daily 5:30pm-7pm). It includes soup, chef's choice of fish entree and desert for only $14.50.
- Parking:
- There is a free lot on Fulton Street (between Fillmore and Webster streets).
- Know Before You Go:
- All the desserts are homemade and the menu highlights a drink pairing for each. A standout includes the petite, eclair-like chocolate profiteroles stuffed with vanilla ice cream (suggested pairing: tawny port).
I Wanted to Love and Support This Local Restaurant

Having a restaurant like this in the neighborhood should be a really great thing. I always support all the local businesses where I live. For years we sent our friends and guests to this place because after a little wine together at the house we could just walk over and have a (usually) delicious and reasonably priced dinner. The early specials were superb. We sent them alot of business. The only negative comment we ever heard was that the service was indifferent and often snotty. One night we sent guests there who were just finishing an extended honeymoon before going back to Australia. They were at the end of their money and were really tight. I suggested they make the earlybird special and assured them they could afford it. They showed up 10 minutes early for their reservation but were told that there was a walk in with about 8 people and their table had been given away. They were directed to wait outside under the awning in the rain. About 30 minutes later when they were seated they were informed they had missed the early bird special. They asked me how I could recommend such a place? Bad enough... but when I called the owner and told him about the situation he said he had no regrets and did not feel in the least badly. I was incredulous. We have never gone there again and we have directed people away from there. Just not worth the grief. Don't want to thicken the wallets of those with no sense of right or wrong. All I can think is that decision has cost them more than they know.
well worth the money.

Spent a romantic evening with my partner and celebrated a wonderful milestone for us. The food is good and they sometimes have nice music playing in the background. Nice soft jazz music if you're into that type of music. Candle lit tables, very romantic and always excellent service. It's a little pricey, but well worth the money.
not a great recommendation!!

As tourists to this fabulous city we were expecting great things from this restaurant as it was recommended to us by locals and our guide book. However we were bitterly disappointed with the food as it was luke-warm by the time it reached our table, on tasting, there was nothing, no flavour, and it felt that it was just fish and 2 veg. The restaurant was not that busy with about 15 - 20 dining, but the service was slow, we knew that already from reading reviews etc but the waitress was unattentive and other diners complained and she just said it was not a fast food joint!
We would not come back to this 'French Restaurant', and not sure why people should waste good hard earned cash here!
- Pros: none
- Cons: cold flavourless food, ssslloooowwww service
Great seafood, very reasonably priced, great customer service

Great seafood dishes and very reasonable prices. Unlike other reviews, the service was wonderful and our waitress was very attentive and engaging. Crabcakes lived up to their reputation. Scallops were perfectly cooked and served in a very tasty mussel broth. Also tried a pork chop which was brined. Very good. Would definitely visit again when in San Francisco the next time.
Delicious.

Just tried it out and the food was amazing. Everything was light, flavorful and fresh. We ordered way too much food but managed to eat everything because it was just too good. The fish was moist, the mashed potatoes smooth and the chicken and steak are not to be overlooked at this seafood restaurant. The service was attentive and gave very good recommendations. And with all the candles, it's a great low-key place for a date.
