In Short
This place provides an airy haven for poly sci-steeped loafers to do some reading. In addition to a few bottled brews, there's also a small assortment of food, like stuffed taters, falafel, veggie lasagna and nachos. Local acts often play on Friday and Saturday evenings; there's an open-mic night on Thursdays, and an open-mic poetry night on Wednesdays.

Blinded to Blandness. We ened up here for the Thursday open mic night. They didn't manage to get my coffee order right and even then the coffee was decidedly sub par. The performers were treated equally even those who were so bad my girlfriend started laughing, and those performers that had some talent were brought down by the host's obnoxious attempts to get peopel to clap along. With his material the clapping managed to hide the mistakes and shield us from the cliched writing, but there's no reason to bring everyone down to that level.

No place like (close to) home. Good food dishes a block away from my house! Plus Internet access, good coffee, and live music / artsy stuff going on. This is a great neighborhood and a great place to just unwind.
