Great clothings with sucky service and even suckier return policy. True is a great store to go to when it comes to hip hop clothing, but like what other reviewers have said, do not expect good service in this store. All workers are extremely snobby and think they are the ****. The return policy is horrible. Won't let you return anything without a receipt even when I was gonna exchange a t-shirt to buy a much more expensive jacket. And an exchange period of 7 days? What a joke. I would recommend buying clothes from True only for yourself. Do not buy gifts for other people from this store because if they don't like it, it's a great pain in the butt to return it.
Hip Hop aint polite!. I guess you have heard...yeah dont expect some haight street store workin legend to be cool with you when you walk in. they dont give a f**k if you buy or not...the spot has been there for a while...and it isnt because they are cool with the folks who walk in. The fact is, that the clothes sell themselves and keep them in business. I remember when TRUE was on the other side of the street and only one store! Thats when money was thin and workers were real. Now they got a womens store/shoe store and the mens store. Money aint no problem. Just go there for your clothes and bounce. Better yet go to HUF.
Personality Plus!. True's annual sales are great. You can find great bargains. But the staff at the women's store where the sales are held are too snobby. You won't find any sort customer service here. The girls think that they're the best thing since Baby Phat!
Great brands.
the service here is cold and inattentive. not even a "hello" when you walk in. most of the staff just sits around near the doorway.
great selection of hip hop brands and t-shirts. expensive, but they have amazing annual sales
The cutting-edge streetwear at this local boutique provide hip guys and girls with protection from urban elements..
The Scene
The shoe store and the women's clothing store sit side-by-side, but head up Haight Street just a few storefronts for the men's store. Hip-hop-influenced, cell phone-wielding city kids quickly shuffle through the racks as rap beats with shrewd lyrics pulsate through each shop. Construction hat-yellow walls and chipboard floors give a raw, warehouse to each of the three small storefronts.
The Goods
Nationally known hip-hop gear staples like Ecko or Phat Farm hang next to local designers like Upper Playground, Exact Science, or the in-house line True, which fashions its own beanies, caps, and screen-printed sweatshirts and tees. Guys suit up in Ecko's painter-style baggy jeans with hammer loops and True brand zipper hoodies. Straw baseball caps by LRG (for the guys) or patchwork suede purses by Baby Phat provide the stylin' accessories, but truly finish off a fly getup with some old-school sneakers from the shoe shop next door.
