Outer Sunset diner feeds locals looking for a greasy spoon with an Asian twist. – Sure, this homey diner on the corner of Taraval and 46th Avenue (a sister to the Noriega/19th Avenue location) serves American lunch and dinner standards--think burgers, pastas and steaks--but whatever the hour, breakfast is king. The intimidatingly large plates piled with eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, bacon, biscuits with sausage gravy and every possible combination of these things (including the gut-busting Bull's Special which includes all of the above) are available at any hour, and most of the tables you see are filled with morning favorites. While the overall vibe is decidedly Denny's and priced accordingly, there are a few subtle Asian influences: avocado joins the list of shake flavors like chocolate and vanilla, sriracha sits next to ketchup and Tabasco on the tabletop and you can substitute rice for hashbrowns with your brekkie.
Lousy service / poor food – The poor, apathetic service was my primary complaint until the food arrived (cold of course--as is apparently a tradition here, it sits on a counter forever while the waitress ignores it and you). The burgers were overcooked yet cold. The salad (hastily thrown together after I had finally managed to alert the waitress to our abandoned order waiting at the kitchen window) was so inedible looking, that we sent it back. The chili-cheese fries were awful, but we nibbled a few anyway. Even the fountain drink was flat (I sent back and got an alternate drink about 10 minutes later).
Just awful. No one there seems to care. Pity.
Excellent neighborhood diner – We eat breakfast here at least once a week, and they are prompt and get food out to the tables quickly. Typical diner fare (eggs, bacon, hash, bisquit/gravy) with some California touches (avocado, bacon, cheese omelet) and mediocre coffee. Perfect for a greasy spoon morning.
GREAT SERVICE FOR MANY YEARS – I have been going to the Bashfull Bull Too for many years and have NEVER had any problems with their service. Everyone who works there is very FRIENDLY AND PERSONABLE.
Bad, bad service – After being seated I had to wait 10 minutes for a menu. The waitress brought menus and took orders from two other tables that arrived after me before bring me a menu. When she finally brought a menu she asked if I wanted coffee which took another 10 minutes. While taking my order she walked away before I could even tell her what I wanted! When my food finally arrived she just dumped it op top of the newspaper I was reading before I could move it!
She got no tip and I sure WONT BE GOING BACK to the Bashfull Bull ever again!
Slow service and cold food... – It took 10 min for the watress to take my order. 10 min later I can see my food order sitting where the cook leaves them for the waitress. When she finally brings me my food its cold but by that time I was so hungry I just wanted to eat. The food is standard diner fare, with good prices but bad service..
