A white and red storefront in Parkside with golden Chinese characters above the door is the unlikely home of a wide selection of colorful gelato flavors.
Best gelato I've ever had!!!
by writerevie
This is my favorite place for a treat. The gelato is great; my favorite, hands down is the lychee flavor. It's tastes just like lychee, but with a creamier consistency. Whenever my sister returns home to visit, she makes Marco Polo one of the places on her list that she MUST go to in order to get her dessert fix. The flavors are highly addictive, and they use real ingredients in their gelato, not powders. The soursop is a flavor I have been unable to find anywhere else; the cantaloupe is to die for; the durian (if you like durian, it IS an acquired taste) is yummy, my parents love it; the green tea is one of the best in the city; the black sesame was my favorite when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and ate nothing but ice cream and mushy noodles...okay, I'll end my rave here. Seriously, try this place, you won't regret it. There are other flavors I've left out that are more than worth trying, and I highly believe this place is underrated.
- Pros: Great gelato, exotic flavors
- Cons: Parking.
One of the best little treats in San Francisco
by kentuckyfried
Marco Polo is one of my favorite places to go for dessert in SF, hands down.
The gelato captivates my taste buds. No other gelato place possesses the same sort of consistency, save for maybe Dolce Spazzio in Los Gatos, and even theirs is not the same as Marco Polo's. It's almost like peanut butter, the way it reacts to a spoon once it has had a few minutes to melt.
The service is professional and courteous...always. I've never met a rude fellow working at Marco Polo all these years.
It's a little bit pricier, I'm guessing compared to just going to Baskin Robbins (I don't remember the exact prices on hand, but a pre-packed pint's like $5.50), but it is worth every penny to go there. I have to cut the review short here, but you must go if you haven't already!
- Pros: easy parking, inexpensive, GREAT GELATO
- Cons: not a date place, crowded at pop hours, closes early at 10pm

Marco Polo beats Gelato or any other gelato-type ice creams. Their flavor selection is so different from the usual run-of the-mill: Durian, banana walnut, almond, red bean, mango, lychee. Try it and I promise you won't be disappointed.
- Pros: Rich & creamy, Great flavors
- Cons: Expensive
