The King reigns when it comes to authentic & affordable Middle Eastern eats in SF. In addition to meat options, it's a vegetarian haven.
The Best falafel. I really think they have the best falafel. my usband loved the shawarma wrap... the price is good
Arbitrary awards aside, this Pac Heights Mediterranean falafel dealer is a winner regardless.. One would assume that a restaurant touting their award-winning status would choose an award with a little bit of heft--and with nearly every publication in town throwing out annual congrats for the city's best whatever, that shouldn't be hard to come by. At King of Falafel, you'll quickly notice (due to numerous signs both inside and out) that you're in an esteemed Billy Award-winning establishment; who Billy is and what sort of authority he has in the food world are entirely unclear. One can only guess that Billy has recognized the King for their dedication to the art of falafel making, each little deep fried ball a crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside spicy bite full of Mediterranean flavors. Enjoy your award-winning falafels (or other standard dishes like shawarma, tabouli, etc.) smothered in hot sauce at the 1950's diner-style tables, but don't plan to enjoy them past 7pm--this place closes early.
Great Authentic Food, Good Service, and Friendly, Relaxed Atmosphere.. It is a great place to eat, although Oasis Grill, on Drumm St., or Gyro King may have better falafel/falafel wrap. King of Falafel's shawerma, salad/fattoush, desserts and everything else is great. I especially like their kibbeh, which you have to ask for specifically--it's not on their menu (If you order the kibbeh, you should know that it will take him a bit of time to make them--maybe 15 mins., or more, so you might want to order on the phone ahead of time). The man who owns the place is very friendly and accomodating. The atmosphere, although busy at times, is relaxing and the place is very clean. Another plus is that it's not that expensive as many other restaurants tend to be in San Fran. I recommend going to this place if you want a nice, casual, place to eat.
With a name like Fafafel King.....
I have gone here twice a year for the last 10 years just to see if it will ever get better.
Guess what? it never does, with a name like KING of FALAFEL you woud think it would be at lest half way good.
The falafel is alwat so dry and seems days old.
fantastic!. I love this place. The people are nice. Pretty popular at times, and it is no question why. Delicious falafel!
