Editorial Review for Fillmore Auditorium – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
As patrons gaze at the photos and posters lining the walls, they can practically surf on the sound waves emanating from the building's storied musical past. The site hosted a roller rink in the '40s, hippie freak-outs in the '60s and hard-core punk in the '80s. History aside, this midsize venue features three bar areas (spread between two floors), sparkling chandeliers, ruby curtains and a wooden dance floor.

Insider Tips
When to GoThe Fillmore often releases a handful of tickets for sold-out concerts a half-hour before show time. Get there early and take your chances.
Where to SitArrive way early to snag one of the few tables in the balcony or along the edge of the dance floor.
ParkingTry the Japantown Center and Kabuki lots.
The ExtrasThe Fillmore often gives away Red Delicious apples and--as reward for the sluggish shuffle through the cattle-herd exit--trippy posters commemorating the gig.

The staff micro-managed the guests, constantly saying, "you can't stand there/please move to the side/etc." I have never felt like such a child! Even if the directions were in the interest of safety/fire safety and making sure people can get drinks, there must be a better way to ensure this than hounding guests and contstantly reprimanding us for standing too long by the bar, talking to another guest in the wrong place, and so on. If they could have they would have put hats on us and made us sit in the corner for time-out. l It really put a damper on our overall experience at the Fillmore. P.S. Maybe the Fillmore should pay more attention to all the guests smoking the grass in the venue than guests standing for too long at the bar!
Pros: Draws great musicians
Cons: Rude babysitters

I went to Tesla last night and they rocked, but they did not give out posters which was not fair. Ithought every event gave out posters?
Pros: good groups
Cons: bad service
