Editorial Review for La Mediterranee – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Like the other branches of this local mini-chain, this popular location has a small, cozy and sometimes cramped dining room. It's often crowded, but the wait for a table is short due to efficient service. On sunny days, grab one of the sidewalk tables and take advantage of the warm weather for a more authentic Mediterranean experience.
The Food
A skillful blend of Mediterranean cuisines, the menu here relies heavily on the flavors of Greece and North Africa. Favorites include savory levant sandwiches, traditional Greek phyllo pie and chicken with cinnamon, almonds and chickpeas wrapped in phyllo. A bargain is the Mediterranean meze, an assortment of 10 house specialties including lamb kebabs, dolmas, lemon-scented hummus and tabbouleh. The honey-drenched baklava or datil amandra (warm phyllo filled with dates and nuts) are can't-miss desserts.

It is the most authentic as close to grandma's. The hummos is so delcious and the dolmas are great. My fave dish is the leventine meat tarts in phyllo dough. I also love to have it with the lemon and rice soup. I like the prices and they have great wine and beverage selection. It's small and cozy place in the pacific heights area.
Pros: food, ambience, menu, wine list, speciality wines
Cons: Parking

It is no surprise this place has been around forever. It is small, intimate and consistently good food. Excellent value. Inadvertantly I met the owner and he is super friendly. I will always tell people to come here.
Pros: great food, great value
