NOT RUN BE JAPANESE. be aware! this place used to be good years ago but not anymore. tonkatsu was frozen, just heated in micro. one sure way to know that this place is not run by japanese: they would never charge for hot tea like they do now.

Tasty Noodles!. We always enjoy this little place. Don't the rantings of negative person who devote hours to a manifesto detour you. It is a noodle house, not a culinary experience. Delicious and typical. You want TOmmy Toys Five star restaurant, then go there!

Rude Owner and Service!. We had a party of six. After ordering, everybody got their food except for one of my friends. He had ordered the Tempura Ramen. He waited for 10 minutes before asking where his order was. They delivered his order immediately. It was lukewarm. The tempura batter had been soaked through and was beginning to disintegrate.

He told the waitress that the Ramen looked like it has been sitting and his tempura was soggy. He asked if he could get some crispy tempura. The waitress said that is the way they served it and if he wanted crispy tempura, he should have ordered it on the side.

When the bill came out, there was an extra charge so I asked a waiter passing by what the "S/C" charge was. The waiter did not know. He asked our waitress and said it was a surcharge. I asked for what. Another lady came by said she would take care of the problem. I asked her what the "S/C" charge was. She said she didn't know and would find out. She came back and said it was a service charge for parties of more than 5 people and said there was sign at the door. There was no sign.

I told her that we were not going to pay for bad service. She tried to skirt the issue and said she wasn't our waitress so she can't do anything about it. So I asked to speak with the manager. She yelled at me "There is no manager, I am the owner." I said if you are the owner then you can clearly take care of this problem.

At this point other people in the restaurant were beginning to stare at us. So she said she would remove the service charge after announcing to the restaurant that my friend was just really picky.

This could have all been avoided for $1 worth of tempura and they were just too cheap to fix their mistake of letting the Ramen sit. Then they try to avoid not getting a tip by adding a service charge under a bogus policy that the wait staff and the owner did not know about.

The owner operates Fuku Sushi too so you won't see me there again.

Best miso ramen I have ever had !!!!. I have been going to Sapporo-ya since I was a child, and have enjoyed their miso ramen. I've even had miso ramen in Japan on several occasions, and Sapporo-ya's is the BEST. I literally compare all other miso ramens to Sapporo-ya's and I have yet to enjoy any other miso ramen the way I enjoy the one here. I can't comment on any of the other ramens or dishes at Sapporo-ya because I always order the same thing whenever I go. If you?re looking for something good to eat during your next visit to San Francisco's Japantown, I highly recommend Sapporo-ya.
