Avant-garde design meets unique and sublime simplicity.
Brightly colored, and beautifully designed, Zinc Details has everything the modern enthusiast craves!
Zinc is full of exquisite items where beautiful Scandinavian design meets Japanese sublime simplicity.
Every product Zinc details presents at their store is well established in the world of avant-garde design. I highly recommend Zinc Details for their light hearted approach to form meets function, and friendly helpful staff of fellow designers. Zinc Details is definitely the hidden jewel of Fillmore Street!
Zinc Details is a must if you are looking for a special gift!. I am crazy about Zinc Details! This store is a must if you are looking for a special gift, there is something here for every age! I have purchased everything from Dwell crib sheets for my newborn niece to a collector?s series of wooden dolls by Alexander Girard for my Grandmother. I am huge into customer service and the staff is always so nice and helpful. The only problem, I always leave the store with a few little ?something?s? for myself!
A cornucopia of stylish, inventive housewares and gift ideas scavenged from Japan, Scandinavia and other hubs of haute design..
The Scene
Vasilio and Wendy Kiniris' long, bright Pacific Heights storefront feels too spare and airy to contain the unexpected delights that reveal themselves on a stroll through the aisles. From bright plastics to gauzy paper lamps, vintage lacquers to jewel-like glassware, selections are tasteful, witty and elegantly displayed. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic, a refreshing change from the usual attitudes found in design shops.
The Goods
Though mid-century modern design can be predictable, the selection of wares breathes new life into the popular genre. Sure, it stocks classic Nelson asterix clocks and the odd vintage Danish dining set, but these old favorites are paired with surprising contemporary treats like Mathmos gel projection machines and Eric Pfeiffer's stacked spinning cubic shelf units (as seen at SFMOMA). The psychedelic zodiac match tins from Japan were rescued from a customs warehouse after 40 years.
All products are overpriced.. I have found several of there products in other stores or on the internet for hundreds less.
