An elegant hotel catering to Castro District visitors..
The Scene
This 1909 Edwardian is a popular, gay-friendly, 21-room hotel in the heart of San Francisco's Castro District. It is surrounded by trendy boutiques and restaurants. And while it isn't within easy walking distance of major tourist destinations such as Chinatown or Fisherman's Wharf, it is only steps from the Muni-Metro subway system, for easy transport to all corners of the city.
The Details
Rooms range from small economies with shared bath to suites with private baths and even gardens. All are uniquely decorated, but the overall style is elegant, with a consistent white-and-yellow color scheme. Down comforters, terry robes, free bottled water and chocolates make even the most basic rooms feel cozy. Even cozier is the common library with a fireplace and grand piano. Amenities for business travelers include complimentary fax service; additionally, executive rooms come with writing desks and DSL.

A Delightful Place to Stay in San Francisco.
I have stayed at the Parker Guest House three times, and thought it was just delightful all three times. There are many things to like about it, but here are a few of the top ones:
1) Nice rooms and immaculate bathrooms.
2) Pleasant, nicely-decorated public areas, including a very nice, sunny place for breakfast, gardens, and a fountain.
3) Good breakfast--coffee, cereals, yogurt, fruit, muffins, orange juice, milk, etc. Local and national newspapers to read in the breakfast area.
4) Friendly, helpful staff.
5) Diverse, interesting group of people staying there.
6) "Happy hour" each day with wine and snacks is a good chance to meet other guests.
7) Free use of a computer and a printer.
8) Good location.

Ownership. Another highlight to staying at the Parker Guest House is interacting with the owners -- Bill and Bob. They are not only hospitable, but also very knowledgeable on where to go and what to do while in SF!
