Stayed over the holidays, a big mistake!!.
Stayed 4 nights and moved 3 different rooms because of the filth. The sanitary issues included Black Mold, clogged shower drains, towels were small and like sandpaper, all comforters were stained and/or holes in them. All box springs had urine stains. Carpet smelled of urine and was wet by the beds.
The new Mgr was unprofessional and she was just getting as much cash out of this Motel and taking advantage of clients because of the great location and little competition in the Castro. Motel rooms are small and dark with dated furniture.
Recommend going downtown and taking a cab to the Castro. Cabs are cheap in SF.
Cleanest Place I have ever stayed in. Over six years ago I stayed at Beck's and I was amazed by the tidiness of the place. It was recommended to me by a driver friend who swore to me that I would be safe there. I was amazed myself not only to the safe-net it provided but also to everything else. The Castro is an amazing place: if you want to be around open-minded people, friendly, and fun I recommend the Beck's and The Cafe just a few blocks from there.
Welcoming a gay, lesbian and straight clientele..
A huge rainbow flag proudly waves at the corner of Market and Castro streets, flying over the heart of San Francisco's gay and lesbian mecca. This old-fashioned motel is only two blocks away from this welcoming banner. With its wood and sandstone façade, it offers a trip down memory lane straight to the 1950s.
There are 57 rooms, including two deluxe rooms with a fireplace. Some are on the small side, although all are functional and offer a range of basic amenities, such cable TV and little fridges. This low-rise building houses a sundeck, for that rare sunny San Francisco day. There is a coin-operated washer/dryer on site. A good selection of ethnic restaurants can be found on nearby, palm-lined, noisy Market Street. The motel is a short stroll to all the hot bars and trendy shops of the Castro District.

The best deal in the Castro!. I have stayed here many times. It's located within walking distance of Castro St, public transport, shops & restaurants, and bars. It's also a well kept establishment. I don't spend hours in my room when I'm in SF. There's too much to do! It's a great base to travel from. As far as cruising goes, the clientele is mostly gay men, so cruising is a given. Don't engage them & no one will engage you. If you're sqeamish, you should think about staying in a different area, because you will be cruised as much walking down Market Street! Ignore the naysayers.
This is an extreme "cruise" motel. Don't leave your door open if you dont want unexpected company. The staff was friendly, ammenities lacking, but the location more than makes up for the drawbacks.
Good restraunts within walking distance, as well as bars. Nice leather shop 1 block away, and a killer barber shop just next door to the leather shop.
Zero Privacy, Zero Hospitality. We specifically asked if there was "cruising" going on at the hotel. We were assured that there was no cruising - and based on that - we made reservations. However, from the moment we arrived, there was excessive, and at times, aggressive cruising. Coupled with the fact that the room did not have a fan/air-conditioner and smelled of smoke/exhaust, we were unable to open the door for ventilation because guys would either be looking in and/or actually just stand in the doorway. Very annoying. There wasn't enough hot water, no hair dryer, no ironing board, nasty old squishy beds and insufficient parking. This is not a family hotel and if you're looking for privacy (gay or not) this is not the hotel for you. The new paint job is nothing but a cosmetic patch.
