In Short – A plain interior with beige-colored walls, a smattering of tables and a small wooden sushi bar greet Castro locals at this corner restaurant. Timid diners opt for mains like chicken, beef or salmon teriyaki and yosenabe--a Japanese clay pot with seafood, chicken and veggies. Those with more adventurous palates choose from Nigiri sushi, including marinated mackerel and barbecued freshwater eel, and rolls such as house combinations made with yellow tail or tuna.
Fresh fish, friendly/attentive staff, reasonable prices

I just got home from my second sushi dinner at Daimaru. This place is special. We went early and had the sushi bar to ourselves. The oysters were yummy, the dynamite roll is very tasty and all the fish looks and tastes wonderful. And the presentation is very nice.
The sushi chef looks really young, but is so talented and fascinating to watch.
This place has a small, neighborhood hangout feel.
I went to Daimaru the first time because of the reviews on citysearch, and I am glad I did. This is even why I joined, so I could write a review and say thanks to the other reviewers.
