In Short – With lightly sponged copper-colored walls, sculpted metal counters, funky lighting fixtures and a high ceiling topped with a huge skylight, the atmosphere at Marcello's is bright and clean. Thin-crust pies with a slightly spicy sauce and cheese are available until the wee hours. – –
Best Pizza in SF

Best sauce in the city! It is all about the sauce! From a native Bostonian, this pizza is worthy of the East Coast.
Good Pizza
by EhBrah
I've been going to this place for years and they make good pizza. Parking is a B* but I'm willing to drive around looking for a spot to get their pizza. The kids love it too and is one of their favorites, if you're not sure try to wait for a fresh pie to come out or definitely have it heated. I've had slices that were not so good because I didn't request they be heated because the person helping me said they were warm. Never had delivery so can't comment on that.
REMEMBER THIS IS NOT NYC!!!! This is not NYC pizza, we don't live in NYC and if you go here thinking you're gonna get a slice like it came from Ray's or Grimaldi's it ain't gonna happen. So all you crybaby transplants from NY who excel at whining about CA, NY pizza, and NY cheap prices, and how things are not like NYC. PLEASE MOVE BACK AND OPEN A WHINERY!
- Pros: Good pizza, funny crowd at night.
- Cons: parking is tough, wimps and weak minded people won't like the area
The real deal

San Francisco is not New York. Short of a trip to NYC this is as good as it gets in the entire Bay Area.
The slices are large (NY style), the crust is thin and tasty. Occasionally too much cheese is applied (typical West Coast nonsense), the sauce is tangy, and it is not too greasy. Yes, you can fold the slice, and no it does not always stay rigid (a key requirement if in NYC). Don't ask me about their thick crust pizza... Chicato style is not of interest to me.
Their prices are competitive... Oh, you can get it cheaper in NY or NJ? OK, pick me up a slice next time you are there, and while you are at it how about some pastrami, and pickles, and bagels, and canolli?
- Pros: Crust, Sauce, Size
- Cons: Not NY Service, Not NY Standards, Not NY Prices
