Yummy Sushi. Don't go for the ambiance, to be seen. Go for the really good, well-prepared raw fish.

best of the bay. I live a block away, and have always left Hamano happy. Sushi or sashimi is what you get there (they have a couple appetizers that are good too). All the chefs are Japanese, the fish is the freshest. The best fish I've had was at Anzu in the Nikko hotel (in a different price league though), and Hamano comes second. Quality-wise, similar to Ebisu, but the pieces are larger. Maki are one step above, and some (dynamite roll for instance) not only are a great value, but even have a sense of humor!

excellent sushi!. The sushi at Hamano is fresh, generous, and well-crafted. In addition to sushi, they serve a fair bit of other entrees and yummy appetizers. Decent sake selction as well.

Best fish quality in the Bay Area. Everything you get here is melt in your mouth freshness. I've been to them all and this place is the only one that is always great. The rolls are very good, the cooked meals are great and the nigiri is the best I've ever seen and I've seen hundreds!

Melt-in-your-mouth sushi. Sushi here is ultra fresh, extra yummy, and beautifully presented. Portions are generous - try out the rock-n-roll and spider roll.
