Nice to come back to visit.. When we are in San Francisco we always find time to visit the Sausage Factory. The food is good and the people are friendly. If you are looking for a relaxing meal....this is your place.
Castro Staple. Friendly service with welcoming and attentive staff help make this place what it is. Very standard menu but the fun feel is what will really make you enjoy the place.
Diners return to this Castro institution for pizza and pasta favorites served with a dose of local atmosphere..
In Short
For more than three decades, this cheekily named neighborhood fixture has stuck to what it does best: classic Italian-American cooking. Housed in a former sausage factory, the eatery's wait staff has a reputation for adding a dash of camp to the dining experience. Generous salads and antipasto prep patrons for dishes like linguine with clams, eggplant parmigiana and baked manicotti. Calzones, sandwiches, burgers and pies assembled from the decidedly carnivore-friendly toppings list are big hits with delivery customers.
Service Made up for average meal. Food was average - cabonara had a cream sauce (???), but service was among the friendliest in the city
LOVELY !!!!!!!!!!!!!.
It was the best food I ever had in the castro. The pizza was great . The veal scaloppini
was wonderful . The raviolis were great and you must try the lasanga. The waiter was
very helpful and freindly. If you ever in the Castro you should stop bye and try it for your self.
Great service and GREAT food. I had the Chicken Marsala and it was wonderful! The service was great, very friendly and helpful staff. Great music and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Very very quick service as well.
Italian Comfort Food. Really enjoyed they good, old-fashioned Italian comfort food - Cheese Tortellini with pink sauce was good, and Lasagna was delicious. Like the Montepulciano for$5.75, too!
Lousy. The fact that this place was packed proves how uneducated most locals are about food. What a joke! I'd always passed by this place and wondered what the food was like. Walked in with a friend one day, actually had to wait for a table, and thought we were in for a treat. All I can REMEMBER about the experience is that the food was FORGETTABLE!
Not bad Italian Food. I've been there several times over the years. Again I would rate this a restaurant that I would go to, but not make a special trip for it.
If you love a side of pasta!. This Castro mainstay has a special place in the comfort food portion of my heart. I can't help but love the cheeseburger with a side of spaghetti!
