Luna has new owners now and the food and service has really changed for the better. We were very pleasantly surprised how much everything has improved. We ate outside on the covered patio in the garden. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced with good service. For dinner my partner had crab salad and steamed mussels, I ordered Onion soup and stuffed fish. With two glasses of Champaign the bill was under $50. Everything was wonderful and they now take credit cards. We are definitely going back soon.

Living in the neighborhood for 3 years, hadn't been to Luna in almost 2 of them due to a bad dinner expereince. Giving it another chance was a huge mistake. During a non-busy sunday after 1:30PM, the food took almost 30 minutes to get to the table, burned and cold, and then they don't take credit cards. The manager explained that they can't take credit during a busy weekend....that seems quite odd. So I had to leave my party and go to the ATM across the street in order to pay. Very unhappy, and won't go again. Shame on me for the 2nd time mistake. Stay away, there are better places to go in Castro like Catch or Tangerine!

Still bummed that we wasted an opportunity to eat at any number of San Franciscos amazing eateries on this place. While it had a great patio, and the staff was somewhat friendly, the food was absolutely horrible. Everything tasted like it came out of a can. The food was juvenile in execution, everything was extremely literal. a hunk of salmon, next to a hunk of whipped plain potatoes with a pile of boiled spinach slopped onto the plate. The salmon was not farm fresh, it tasted as though it came from a frozen costco bag. The potatoes were instant (we saw the boxes while waiting in line for the bathroom) and the appetizer we ordered, tomato steaks with mozarella, bazil and olive oil...came straight from a can! they are proudly stacked up on the kitchen shelf when you walk in. my mates ordered the ravioli which was doused in marinara from a jar, and the albacore which came with a mushy risotto. honestly...don't eat here. this place might have potential but give it a couple of years to iron out the kinks...i dont know how they get away with charging what they do for what they're serving...my guess, due to the non existant crowd on a saturday night...is that they wont get away with it for much longer.

When to Go:
Castro's morning-after crowd makes it harder to procure a table after 10:30am.
Where to Sit:
The intimate patio, with dim lighting and warm heat lamps makes this a perfect date destination.
