view & uploadSpectacular desserts, warm and friendly place to sit. The desserts here are works of art and so delicious that you'll scream with delight as you eat them. They have free Wi-Fi (but sit in the rear for a stronger signal). I've been going there for years and love the place. My only gripe (for which I deducted one star) is that the prices seem high (around $7 for one slice of pie or cake) and lately the entire place has been staffed by one person, and I've waited as long as 12 minutes just to get coffee and a snack. Go with a friend and split a dessert, you can't go wrong with this place. If you can't wolf down an entire slice of dessert (they're huge) get one of their cookies.
Never called back!!!. I have left 2 messages and nobody has ever gotten back to me!!! So much for the birthday I had planned. I will never do business with these people again.
Good Desserts in the heart of San Fran. On my regular trips out to San Francisco, one of the places I regularly travel to is this dessert establishment I first got exposed to by a good friend of mine. Everything I have tried here is always very good, with heavy emphasis on the mousse and similar desserts. Never tired the cakes, so can't respond to the other feedback about the quality there, but the three other times I've been had included mousse, cheesecake and cookies, all were great. The staff can be a little bit indifferent, so the service isn't top notch, but the food is great!
Not too bad. Good selection of cakes and pies, as well as baked good and non-alcoholic drinks. Portions more than filling (take half home with you). Tends to be busy and a bit loud, busy with the locals.
Towering cake by the slice and plenty of strong coffee make this a popular Castro date haven..
In Short
The bright yellow walls are hung with local art. Floor-to-ceiling windows up front offer glimpses of the exuberant mile-high cake slices waiting to be liberated from the long glass-fronted counters. Cakes are large and luscious, in dozens of flavors and combinations. Look for the lavishly frosted double-decker carrot-cake squares, the whipped cream-strawberry cake or the devil's food.
Dry cake, terrible customer service. I used to love Sweet Inspirations, but after I ordered a cake from them for a friend's 30th b-day, my opinion changed entirely. The cake was so dry it was inedible. What's worse, when I called to complain, the owner didn't return my calls. Beware before purchasing anything from this business.
awful service. Ten years ago the desserts at Sweet Inspirations were wonderful to eat... Now they are dry and horrible. The prices went up and the quality went down. No wonder this place was so pathetic to add the breakfast and lunch menu. Too bad....
Get The Cheesecakes and Tarts. I've been going to Sweet Inspirations for a number of years. One thing is consistant...the cheesecakes and tarts are great, but the cakes and cookies are HORRIBLE. A Duncan Hines cake mix would have more flavor and moisture. I couldn't put my finger on it, but now I know what it is. Like the previous person stated, the cake must be loaded with sawdust!! The management act like stuck-up people for don't get a clue about why they are where they are.... it's all about customer service!
Huge Portions. They give you big portions in this place but the flavor and texture is just average. It's a more gathering place than a serious dessert shop.
MMM...GOOODDDD. After having dinner out, we skip dessert so that we can eat at Sweet Inspirations. The staff is very friendly and the portions are wonderful. They are a little pricey, but the portions are large. As long as they don't change that, they will have a long following. They have a plethora of wonderful desserts to choose from and terrific coffees too. It is also nice that they are open late...so you can get that late night sweet.
