Overpriced and dishonest – OMG, I am the biggest idiot ever. After they scratched (in multiple spots!) my shoe the first time, I cannot believe I patronized them for the second time. Shame on me!
Since the place got good reviews and it is only downstairs from my work, I gave them a second chance, sheerly out of laziness and faith in them.
The first time I brought in a BRAND new pair of beige colored JCREW flats and asked them to add a rubber bottom and heel to it. I picked up the shoe without looking at them. When I got home, I notice in several spots on both shoes around the sides of the shoe bottom, there were scrap marks. It was obvious that when they were "sanding" off the new bottom to blend in with the existing underside, they did not tape up the sides and so the sander sanded the leather. I was leaving for an one month business trip and was eager to bring these shoes with me. So I took pictures but could not bring the shoes back. After I got back, I got lazy and let it go.
I bought two pairs of new shoes, one Ferragamo and one Christian Dior shoes from Bloomingdales and wanted to add rubber bottoms to the shoes as well, to protect them. I decided to give them a second chance, thinking that if I tell them about what happened to my JCREW shoes last time, that they will pay extra attention. I spoke with a older Philapino? lady and told her about what happened. She said for me to bring those other shoes in and I said will. She also said she will make sure these two new pair of shoes are taped up. I remindered her many times and told her that these were BRAND new shoes, never worn (except when I tried them on, of course).
Today I go pick up the shoes, and noticed some scratch spots again. I pointed them out to her and she starts denying ALL responsibility. She said that they didn't do it and they may have been there when I brought them in. I said no because 1) the shoes were brand new, 2) i did not notice them, and 3) if they were there, why didn't you mention it then when you were looking at the shoes? She then responds that she did not examine the shoes when I brought them in and I should have told her about the "existing" scratches. I told her, "how can I tell you about the scratches when they weren't there to begin with?"
What pisses me off the most is that she is denying all responsbility and plays dumb. She said I was too picky and I should bring another pair of shoes to another venor to see if they can do a better job. If she holds her business to such low standards of quality and denies responsibility, then they deserve to be out of business. I want to sue them but it cost $300 just to file an application with the small claims court which doesn't make sense. There doesn't seem to be much more that I can do other than to hit myself over the head for going back to them the second time.
If you want white glove service for your shoes, don't go to this place. They charge like high end ($26 for half soles) but serve like United Airlines.
(By the way, there were rubber bits inside the sole of my shoes.. this just shows that they don't even bother to clean it).
