Pricy bubbles and a cave-like dance floor are the pitfalls of a great concept. Fun, when you're not in charge of the bill, or if just enjoying one glass on quieter week night.
not worth the time or money.
Went here for a friends bday on a sat nite. Had a reserved table upstairs. ($300 bar tab to reserve) We must have spent about a $1000 but as soon as our drinking slowed down, they turned over our table. Simply gave it away and hustled us off. Hostess was exceptionally rude about it too. Just moved all our coats and stuff while we were downstairs dancing. My scarf was missing so I went to the hostess stand to ask if she'd picked it up. She had a big pile of our stuff behind her hostess stand but she emphatically said "NO" and walked away to seat a party. When she returned I pressed the issue again and asked if she would just look through stuff for me. She got annoyed and said she simply didn't have it. Finally I took the matter into my own hands and walked around and started digging through our stuff. She got angry (as expected) and called the doorman over. Just as he arrived I found my scarf. I held it up and showed it to her. She just ignored me..no apology, no nothing.
O.K. I can live with with bad attitude if you're a super trendy hot spot, but this place is very mediocre and simply cant justify it. It's just some nice decor, a few couches, poor service, and some very over priced champagne. Downstairs could really be a great little dance floor but the music was incredibly lame.
Don't waste your money on this dump. I'm giving it one star b/c it's required. In reality it deserves none.
bubble lounge. Not diverse at all!!! This bar has nothing but bad music and watered down drinks! Not to mention my boy friend came to meet me and he wasn't let in because his pants were"to BIG" this bar discriminates against urban wear! He fallowed the dress coad to a T but his clothes were to baggy (it didn't matter that he was over wieght"! NO THEY DYSCRIMINATE AGAINST URBAN WEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Two sparkling tiers of champagne, live music and savory hors d'oeuvres..
Curtains drape the wooden entrance, while champagne-themed artwork decorate the interior's exposed-brick walls. The Krug, an intimate downstairs space with white-stucco walls and low ceilings, features a second bar more plush seating. Champagne aficionados and mixed-drink enthusiasts will find something to whet their respective palates; in addition to an extensive martini menu, more than 300 varieties of sparkling wine are available. A small-plates menu features oysters, caviar, strawberries and more champagne accompaniments.
bar staff is a joke...crowd is horrible.
After giving the barman $25 for 2 $12 drinks, realizing I have no more cash, I ask my friend for a few bucks to make sure he gets tipped out. He takes my $1 change and holds it up asking the other barstaff "anyone want a dollar?" sarcastically, as I'm trying to get more money for that low life;
aside from that the crowd is low grade...opposite of what some cheesy SF tourist magazines describe Bubble as being a City hot spot; maybe it was at some point, but the "moment" is certainly over at this place.
Best Nightclub in SF!. Went to Bubble Lounge on Saturday night and was blown away. First of all no cover (as long as you show the bouncers ID and are dressed extremely nice, you will get in) and second, the gorgeous women! There is actually room to move here unlike some other clubs. Bartenders make good drinks, and if you leave a decent tip they will make even better drinks the next round. Make sure you come with a group of friends or at least one friend so you blend in easy.
Best Romantic Primer!!. I recently took my wife here for her birthday, and it was very, very romantic to say the least. The service, decor, and drinks were great!!
The UN of SF nightlife. This place has diversity, its great. If you play by the rules (have id, shoes, dressed decently), you will have a good time. The decor and ambience is soothing. Men - ambitious, trendy, blazer sporting. Women - 2nd year law or advertising 30 year olds. Haa, just kidding. If you are someone who prefers to still hear "Brass Monkey" when out for the night, visit on Friday night (graduated frat crowd). If you are like me and wear a t-shit with a $3K Breitling, visit on Sat night...its more U.N.
Best place ever!. I love it! Great service and great drinks. If you are looking for a great and romantic place to com and have fun and relax, Bubble lounge is it.
Rude hostess, felt rushed not impressed. I haven't been to this place since 2000 because it was always too crowded and too pretentious. We went there again last night to celebrate an engagement and probably won't go there again until 2010. Let me first say that we spent a lot of money and continued to order drinks(bottles) and food throughout the 2.5 hours of our evening. We weren't being abonoxious, tipped generously and were all well behaved. The hostess constantly kept coming over and moving our chairs(to make room for more people that never used the space) even though the place was not full at all. Our waitresses were both gracious but the finale was the hostess asking us to make room for the next table immediately upon paying our bill. If there were busy I would have understood but they weren't and the constant moving was really distracting...I will take my business elsewhere next time. Was never a fan, still not one.
Never Got past the Arrogant Door Man. A group of 8 Women, celebrating a bachelorette party had planned a big night starting at the bubble lounge. When we got to the door, the door man asked us to please show ID. One of the women had gotten her ID stolen the week before and I asked the door man if it was okay (all of us are in our late 30s and 40s). For some reason, this set him off and he said to me "LADY, this is not a restaurant and NO ONE without ID will be let in" we called the manager over, Renee, and she claimed it was the law and that they could get in trouble. She turned her back on us and refused to let us in! They turned us away! After weeks of planning and preparation our big night out could have been ruined! But Thank goodness for the Impala, where we spent approx $1,000. If you want to have a good time and be treated with dignity, DON'T GO TO THE BUBBLE LOUNGE. Their door man is an arrogant, full of himself bully!
