What People Are Saying About Harrington's Bar & Grill

In Short – Servers know regulars on a first-name basis at this expansive two-room bar that boasts plasma TVs and a smoking patio in front. A predominantly professional crowd fills the joint during weekday happy hour, but lunchtime is also a major draw thanks to above-average offerings from the kitchen. Freshly carved meat fills all turkey and roast beef sandwiches, and daily specials like fish-and-chips and prime rib sell out quickly.
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- Ten international beers on tap take center stage at the bar.
- Know Before You Go:
- On Monday evening and Sunday the smoking patio is the only area open, to accommodate the smaller crowd
The SPOT on St Paddy's Day!
by EditorSF
If you're looking for a place to enjoy traditional Irish music and think about the cultural significance of this ancient holiday, steer clear of the raging block party Harrington's throws every year for St Paddy's. But if you want to get completely obliterated on Guinness and Jameson, make out with a stranger, lose your friends, pass out eating a Five Dollar Foot Long and almost get fired the next day--in other words, if you want to celebrate St. Paddy's the right way--this is the place to be.
- Pros: Drunken mayhem
- Cons: Drunken mayhem
fun but full

This place in fun and convenient for the after work crew but if you don't get off early for happy hour it's super crowded once you get there and often times very tough to get a drink. If you're lucky enough to get off at 3, it's perfect!
- Pros: fun big place
- Cons: crowded
Excellent service and atmosphere!!!!

I went in to watch the world cup this week, and first of all, this was one of the only places open for the 7am games. And the atmosphere was excellent, full of enthusiastic fans, including all the staff. What a great time watching the games here! Also, the service, drink and food were outstanding. I couldn't have been happier, and the only thing that would have been better, of course, would have been if the U.S. would have won! This is a bar that my friends and I can always count on and where we always meet fun and friendly people out looking for a good time. Also, the value for this neighborhood is excellent. And the Irish waitresses always make me feel welcome. I recommend this spot to all my friends.
- Pros: THUMBS UP!!! Strong drinks at excellent value with top notch service.
Avoid for world cup viewing. Maybe it's better other times.

Went in to watch a world cup match before work and it was a disaster. 45 minutes before anyone took my drink order, the kitchen was backed up (so no food orders), and they ran out of coffee cups. On the plus side, no one said anything when I went to Peet's at halftime to get breakfast. Only slightly better was a match during lunch earlier in the week, where at least I got food. FYI: the food is pretty average as bar food goes. Not sure why this rates an 8.5 on the citysearch scale.
- Cons: Service
Good patio, great staff
by pizzymcgith
the burgers are bricks. but they're still edible with cheese and mushrooms (for moisture) and they're at harrington's.
harrington's is a financial district institution. nothing fancy at all. best waitstaff in the world. notice your waitress? she's gotten everything to you in good time and been very friendly, hasn't she? now look around - she's COVERED THE ENTIRE SIDE of the restaurant by herself - literally taking 30 tables at the same time sometimes. i dont know how they do it.
- Pros: staff, patio
- Cons: food
