What this tiny Italian eatery lacks in size it makes up for with an expansive menu, serving a variety of antipasti and first-rate pasta…

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!. I cant even tell you how bad the food is cause I WILL NEVER GO THERE!!!! I called to make a reservation and find out what they have to do with the Purple Onion Comedy Club. I was treated HORRIBLY and was even asked "What do you want?" They barely spoke english and had NO PEOPLE SKILLS!!! We will not be going to this restaurant. We found a much better place.......The Stinking Rose.

One of the worst Italian Restaurants I have ever been to.. I went there the other night for dinner. The service was terrible and the food was very plain and didn't really have a good taste to it.

Please avoid if you want good Italian food. With all the competition in North Beach, I am surprised that this restaurant stays in business. The food was just plain bad. I had the Orecchiette con Broccoli Rabe. It is as if they looked at the ingredients for this dish, but did not know how to combine them properly. The sausage came cut into large chunks (like cubes of a hot dog), not broken down into the ground meat form that I am more accustom to. Nothing held the pasta and ingredients together. One of my dining companions ordered gnocchi. This is harder to get right, they just didn't come anywhere near. Trader Joe's frozen gnocchi tastes better. The only redeeming food items on the menu were a couple of the appetizers....their special salad for the day was pretty good and the pizza was not too bad. I will not be going back.

Small Italian eatery serves familiar pasta dishes to North Beach denizens.. In Short
This well-kept secret features a second-floor dining room where vertical space is at a premium, but views from window tables are worth the bump on the head. Locals sip on "Macaroni Cocktails" (bitters and sweet vermouth) while munching on appetizers like creamy polenta with wild mushroom sauce. Pastas include requisite classics like light and fluffy gnocchi or intensely flavorful ravioli.

Good Place For Friends. Our best memories of the whole town. A streetside cafe indoors. Not pretentious. It was a very good meal. The one place we will remember, and hope to call on again. Very pleased.

TERRIBLE DINNER. We were in the mood for Italian in North Beach..I have lived here for 6 years and thought that this place looked cute - It had to be good right?? WRONG. All 3 of us were underwhelmed and extremely disappointed. The portions were small, the tomatoes were not good, and the marinara sauce was out of a TV dinner. Do NOT recommend. Do not know how it has been around so long...someone should alert the tourists.

TOO Expensive.... we finally decided to try this place out. At first, the waiters are funny but it's a bit much after a while. They're very pushy with wines and water and everything else, I sometimes felt like I dealing with a car salesman instead of a waiter. In the end the experience left a bad taste in my mouth, food was okay. I've definitely had better and this place is way overpriced for the overall experience and quality. I will not be going back.

Just plain Bad.... The waiter did not tell us about the specials that night which he did for the table next to us. The portion and quality of my spageghetti and meatballs were just terrible!! service was just poor. there are many other MUCH BETTER places to eat... esp. italian.

NOT RECOMMENDED. This place has ok food, but the service is horrendous and the ambience non-existent. Waiters gave us weird looks when we only wanted water for drinks.

Fabulous Firehazard. Ok, so you take your life into your own hands by shoehorning into this tiny, cramped restaraunt. The host is loud and pushy, very Italian and yes, he wears gold chains. It's hot, loud, busy - and you'll love it. You'll be rolling your eyes, smacking your lips and praising the Oso Bucco, their veal and hands-down, the best Gnocci Gorgonzola. If you're expecting a real Italian experience, go here. If you want space and professional staff, go get a booth at TGIFridays.
