Yank Sing Restaurant

"Traditional & Creative Dim Sum and then Some" Zagat 2003.

  • Perfect for Parties
  • Catering Available
  • Gift Certificates Available

Yank Sing offers an air of commerce in the dining room as deals are made and other business is conducted over lunch. Those who need to get quickly back to their offices or just wanting to enjoy a satisfying meal to go, make their way to the take out area for a Yank Sing combination lunch. On weekends however, Yank Sing's tables spill out into the elegant surrounds of the Rincon Atrium; filled with friends and family, laughter and conversation.

Yank Sing serves not only the traditional hors d'oeuvre sized dumplings, but has created a much wider array of items which can be categorized as deem sum consisting not only of dumplings, but also other dishes such as Peking duck-by-the-slice, or a snap peas vegetarian dish.

Editorial Review for Yank Sing Restaurant – by Miriam Wolf

The Scene
Even with the bustle of carts that constantly roll by, families and large celebratory parties, this dim sum palace stays serene. The melon-colored walls, din-muffling carpets and wood accents help keep things tranquil, but the real secret is the miraculously efficient staff, always ready to refill your teapot, bring clean plates or explain what's inside each dumpling or roll.

The Food
Yank Sing offers a broad selection of dim sum, with more than 60 choices available every day. Favorites like gingery foil-wrapped chicken, delectable shrimp dumplings and ultrarich egg custard tarts are some of the best bites in town. Peking duck tucked into a steamed bun with scallions and plum sauce is a sweet and salty bite of pleasure. Subtle lobster flavor shines through in a steamed lobster dumpling topped with roe. The non-meat options include curry-vegetable dumplings, fresh pea-shoot dumplings and refreshing, chilled snap peas.

2 Star Rating: Below Average

We waited 45 minutes mid Sunday afternoon for a table. The one thing will give this place is a pretty location. Everything else was mediocre to poor. The food was mediocre and the maitre d' was downright poor in his manner. We drove an hour each way to try this restaurant and were very disappointed. We can certainly find better food and better service almost anywhere.

Pros: Location is pretty

Cons: Food, service, help is rude, promptness of being seated etc etc.

When i read about all positive rating, I was excited to go to Yang Sang since i m a dim sum lover. However, i tried it today and i was disappointed. They are not as impressive as i read. They are just average, clean, high price and overrated.. The food is not extraordinary. And for two people, easily paid for eighty bucks for dim sum which i think is little overpriced. But the location is great.

Pros: location, clean and friendliness

Cons: average quality dim sum, not as creative as i think, high price
