Editorial Review for Schroeder's Cafe – by Lorraine Sanders
In Short
Operating in various locations within the city since 1893, this restaurant has a long history of serving hearty Bavarian dishes to downtown diners. In a dining room punctuated by Herman Richter murals, a rosewood bar and decorative beer steins, patrons sup on classic offerings like Weiner Schnitzel, bratwurst, Hungarian goulash and potato pancakes, while the less adventurous stick to American staples like burgers, steaks and grilled salmon. Several meatless entrees on the menu satisfy vegetarians.

I have visited Germany twice in the past year and loved it, I would live there, but besides the point, I thought I'd bring my husband to this place for his birthday. It was amazingly fun with the polka band, large portions of beer and food, and the "schtick" is that the server is abrupt like. This is all show, the waitstaff is actually really nice and accomodating, you just better know what you want when they come around to take your order. My husband loved this place so much that he brings all his friends for their birthdays to Schroeders and they love it as well, das boot is amazing but you should check out their 5 liter monster stein of beer, beware of falling in! Great food, great atmosphere, it's fantastic.
Pros: All around fun place when they have their polka band

As a German who appreciates good food and nice people I would not recommend this place to anyone. Food was lousy, the service was extremely rude. No more words needed!
Pros: None
Cons: Food & Service
