Seafood cooked better than Hong Kong

by jenywswong

I was a tourist spending less than a week in SFO. I expected to get a lot of western food there. However, my friends brought me there and it was crowded at lunch time. I enjoyed sitting in the room with 2 large tables. Dim Sum was great but I could not say I liked the wanton noodle. I went back again for dinner and the most amazing thing was they cooked seafood (steamed fish, crabs in chinese wine) better than any chef in Hong Kong (believe me because I spend my whole life here and it is famous for seafood). I also liked all the other dishes which included lamb chops, fried noodle, vegetables, etc. I heard that the boss is thinking of closing it down soon, so visit while you can.

  • Pros: Great Food, Good service, Good parking
  • Cons: Crowded, Slightly expensive

It's take more than a Village

by ethelll

Highly overrated. Highly. The food was mediocre at best. Per the waiter's recommendation, I ordered General Tso Chicken based on the reassurance that it's not the usual deep fried standard issue. Dark chicken, very salty and spicier than the "mild" promised. The worse part...no refills on water or ice tea. Perhaps being a solo diner or not Asian like most others might have had an impact on the service. I barely touched my dinner and someone came to clear it away without asking if I enjoyed or wanted the leftovers. I asked to speak to the manager and asked why. I explained the situation and she replied "they are too busy. next time, don't get anything that's hot". Next time...it would take MORE THAN A VILLAGE FOR THAT!

Delicious Dim Sum & Dinner

by artistwinnie

They are great Dim Sum (love the variety) and the crowd starts piling up around 12 noon on the weekends (but not too long of a waiting time). The service is fine, just understand this concept: It is a chinese restaurant and if you want anything or need anything, just ask for it. That's how it works in a chinese restaurant. For the food and location, this place is definitely a try!! specially for dim sum!

  • Pros: Great Dim Sum, Validated parking, Fresh ingredients

Food Excellent, but Service Sucks

by romarchez

The food at Harbor Village is great, especially our utmost favorite, fish egg fried rice. The service needs major improvement as the servers are somewhat rude. They walk around in their carts and when you don't see what you like and politely tell them "no thank you", all the other servers with carts tend not to stop at your table anymore.

  • Pros: great food, accommodates groups
  • Cons: , bad service, bad service

Serious Nosedive

by tomclark

Every past June, Harbor Village has offered a delicious specialty called "jone" (sweet rice steamed in lotus leaf, filled with lucious goodies like seafood, chicken, ginko nuts, the works). On a recent visit, an incessantly gum-chewing waiter took my order, but everything was late, even the tea. After 45 minutes, still no "jone, I asked the waiter who then retook order: "Do you want seafood "jone" or chicken, large or small". He left then, returned: "Excuse me, the"jone" takes 20 minutes to cook, do you still want it?" "But I ordered this 45 minutes ago." Yes, I know. Unfortunately, I could not wait. Making do on dim sum alone, it's clear Harbor Village has considerably cut down on its variety and quality. At state-of-the-art prices ($50 for two), one expects more than snippy, mediocre service, limited variety and run-of-the-mill quality.

  • Pros: Nice Setting
  • Cons: , Few Selections, Mediocre Service
