Editorial Review for Alfred's Steakhouse – by Patricia-Anne Tom
The Scene
Set in an alley and seemingly back in time, this masculine steakhouse is a respite for those seeking steak and stellar service. Generous pours from the bartender make the crowd of mostly business diners feel like regulars. Red leather booths, burgundy walls and plush carpet heighten the historic charm.
The Food
Aged beef is the star, so no matter the cut, it is served in its natural state unless diners request a pepper, garlic, bearnaise or chimichurri sauce. Using Alfred's Steak, a 20-ounce, bone-in New York cut, as a gauge, it is doubtful diners will leave hungry. The Tuscan T-bone, sitting atop a bed of spinach, is wonderfully tender, with hints of rosemary and garlic. And non-beef-eaters need not fret; a grilled-eggplant vegetable plate, seafood and fettuccine Alfredo are on the menu. Two generously portioned sides--a choice between garlic mashers, baked potato, french fries, ravioli, creamed spinach or fresh vegetables--accompany all entrees.

You really cant go too wrong at Alfreds, and the 41 dollar special menu is a great deal.you can chose soup(split pea was tasty) or salad(most people get the Caesar)You can chose either the New york or Ribeye(or the lamb) and both are HUGE and cooked just right. The only weak link is the deserts which are just so-so.All in all,its a great place when you crave a great steak plus it has a cool,old-fashioned decor and vibe.

I took my girlfriend to Alfred's but we both weren't that happy with the food. The service A+(I'm server my self). Timing of every single thing were just right. Good coctails. I would like to tell you what exactly what I had but it was so boring and tastless, I can't even remeber it! I would never go this place again since there is far better steakhouses in the city! Oh by the way those uncooked meat by the entrance kind of freaky! It ruined my girlfriends appetite!
Pros: Coctails, service
Cons: boring and way too expensive food for its quality
