TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!. The owner or owner's son Marco was a real jerk. He was totally curt and unprofessional. My friend had her wedding reception here a couple of weeks ago and he made a lot of things very difficult by skimping on services he promised.

He eliminated a couple of the dinner options that people were expecting. When I mentioned to my friend that I thought there was a lamb and eggplant parmesan option for vegetarians and all we were offered was steak and salmon, my friend told me that those options were removed last minute because the owner said they had too many guests to accommodate everyone. That is so ridiculous. I've worked at catering restaurants for weddings and large groups and you do what you can to make sure everything goes as scheduled. You don't pull the rug from under them last minute, especially when you have a group of over 150 people. When some is spending that much money at your restaurant, you should go out of your way to make sure they are happy customers.

Another thing they did was if someone got up to mingle with guests or go to the bar, the waiters threw their meal out after 10-15 minutes. I mean, who eats that fast? And aren't you supposed to ask your guests if they are finished with their dinner before you take it away? The waiters threw out our tables dinners in 10 minutes when we went to the bar to get drinks. At least the brides family was nice enough to mention it so we got new meals back, although the waiters were grumbling about it. But they threw away a lot of perfectly good dinners that were barely touched. How wasteful. Honestly the steak was not even that good. I ordered mine well done but it had a lot of red in it, not even medium well. But at that point we really couldn't do anything about it and I didn't want to stress out the brides and grooms families any more than they already have been.

When the wedding cakes came, all the waiters did was display them and then they took them away to cut in the kitchen. The brides and grooms didn't even get to cut the first slice or feed each other like they traditionally do at weddings. Later on the bride told me they tilted one of the cakes too and had to cover it up. Then they told me that the restaurant threw out their cake toppers. Who throws out wedding cake toppers? If I was the bride I would be furious! That is supposed to be a memory of the wedding. I hope they have pictures of it at least. Marco should have known better than that. For such a well known institution, Alfred's Steakhouse should know better than that!

All in all we had a great time at the wedding because it was fun mingling with everyone, they had an open bar, a great DJ, lots of entertainment, etc. But I definitely would not recommend Alfred's Steakhouse for a wedding reception because of the bad attitude and how they treated their guests. I'm sure Marco does not treat his yuppie clientele the way he treated us. Shame on him.

Coming from someone who has worked in restaurants, hotels, hospitality, etc. I know the importance of providing excellent customer service. A happy customer will do repeat business with you. But an unhappy customer will tell at least 10 people about their bad experience. As for me, I'm telling the yelp community about it. Alfred's Steakhouse might be good for dinners I don't know. But they definitely need to learn about hosting weddings or large group events.

Do yourself , your peace of mind, and your pocketbook a favor:

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!

Staff was amazing. I've been here for so many times. I like the steak and the food was good. I had the filet, and it was cooked nicely. The creamed spinach was delicious. The staff was amazing. Definitely, a good place for business dinner and dating. Loved it!

overrated. I've visited steakhouses all over the world and Alfred's is near the bottom. It's not bad, but it's not exceptional like the others and especially not for the price. Texas has much better selections at 1/3rd the price.

Now, this last time we came will be the last. The service was inexcusably below par and have turned me off for good. My wife wanted her steak "well done with no pink". And the waiter came back very rudely with "yes, I know what well-done is". However, it arrive medium-done with pink in the middle.

And they tossed most of our leftovers with barely a morsel from a plate that was only 25% eaten.

Never again.

this place ROCKS!!. You really cant go too wrong at Alfreds, and the 41 dollar special menu is a great deal.you can chose soup(split pea was tasty) or salad(most people get the Caesar)You can chose either the New york or Ribeye(or the lamb) and both are HUGE and cooked just right. The only weak link is the deserts which are just so-so.All in all,its a great place when you crave a great steak plus it has a cool,old-fashioned decor and vibe.

Good Service, Boring Food. I took my girlfriend to Alfred's but we both weren't that happy with the food. The service A+(I'm server my self). Timing of every single thing were just right. Good coctails. I would like to tell you what exactly what I had but it was so boring and tastless, I can't even remeber it! I would never go this place again since there is far better steakhouses in the city! Oh by the way those uncooked meat by the entrance kind of freaky! It ruined my girlfriends appetite!

Great steak and service!. The steak here is AMAZING! I ordered the petite filet with bernaise and my boyfriend ordered the biggest piece of ribeye i have ever seen. He loves his steak and i didnt think he was going to finish it (I swear it was the size of his dinner plate!.) My steak was cooked to order and honestly didnt need the sauce but it was a good complement to the steak. I have a weakness for shoestring fries so that was my side, can never go wrong with them. Dont forget to order a pomegranate martini...they are delicious! they leave the shaker and you get about 2 martinis out of it. I've recommended it several friends and they have all loved it!!! Service was outstanding, as expected.

PS The ceasar salad is the best i have EVER had!

You want beef?. I've been to Alfred's twice and have no complaints. The martini that I ordered was huge and made just right. Kinda old school...they give you the shaker with a glass. You can't beat that. Alfred's has a great School Night Dinner that you have to try. The price is right. I had the 8 oz filet on both occasions and it was cooked to perfection. The Wedge Salad with Pt. Reyes blue cheese dressing is terrific. Depending on how much dressing you like you might want to ask them to go easy. It's a bit heavy. The fresh veggies and the mac and cheese are good choices for sides. This is a good all around experience.

Great atmosphere, great dinner and delicious wine!. I had dinner at Alfred's with 6 friends and it was great. Everything from the drinks to the dessert was pretty delicious. The filet mignon was the largest filet I had every seen and the mac & cheese, to die for! The portions are very large so come hungry. The server was prompt and helpful. If you want steak-go to Alfred's!

Avoid for group dining. I wanted to have a group dinner with 20 of my work colleagues for a work farewell event. I liased with Al and found him to be irresponsive. Two days before the event, I had to call to find out whether my booking was confirmed. I never once received a call from them. It was extremely diffcult to get any information out of him. He kept referring me to the website instead of providing me with the information over the phone.

Dinner was below average, all the guests thought so. They thought the service was terrible as it took forever to get drinks. Alfred's only had 3 people working to serve 20 people. We spent over $2,000 including food and drinks and if you are looking to spend that money at dinner, DO NOT PICK this place!

Good ambiance and Tasty Dinner. A co-worker read about Alfred's on Citysearch and forwarded us the link. We all agreed that we'd continue our work meeting at Alfred's for dinner. This is an ideal spot to continue a work meeting as the staff is highly professional and the tables provide privacy. We had cocktails in the lounge and then transitioned to the restaurant. My dinner was perfect. I had the Worknight Special which included: wedge salad (good); rib-eye steak (huge, cooked medium and flavorful); side of cream spinach (almost to much food now); and cheesecake or desert (one bite). All in all - succesful evening with a highly enjoyable meal. The only confusion was around a pre-set 17% tip already included on the bill which seemed tacky for a nice spot.
