Odd little spot....
My friends and I came to Jay's Bee Pub Club last night for a Rockabilly Friday thing we'd seen in the Guardian.
Advertised to start at 9pm, we arrived at 10 to find the DJ had not yet set up, and the patrons (clearly locals) were watching hockey on TV. There was one guy with a pompadour, and a girl in a long rockabilly skirt.
The DJ started to play, and the music was good. A 2nd tv was turned on in back to play the hockey game, and the front tv was switched to some 40's movie that was cute and without sound. They also cleared some room at that time to make a dance floor.
We stayed for about an hour. We saw one couple dance, but all in all, maybe 7 people were there for the rockabilly night. I guess we were expecting something a little more energetic with lots of cute greasers and a packed dance floor.
It was an ok dive to have a drink in though, if you're over by the dogpatch.
