Mission's swanky little gin joint torn from the pages of "The Maltese Falcon.".
In Short
The beautiful bar, with its Egyptian-looking bas-reliefs, old photos and pint-sized metal palm is a well-wrought venture into understated Art Deco-nomics. The slick, dimly lit locale acts as romantic refuge from the bohemian bars that generally give an edge to the more rugged Mission District nightlife. By neighborhood standards, Lone Palm attracts a more sophisticated, well-coifed and well-clad clientele, sipping perfect Manhattans at the sleek wood bar or at one of its candlelit tables.
Little-known gem :). The Lone Palm is great for after-work drinks, and has a very comfortable, non-pretentious atmosphere.
a place for everyone.
the lone palm is the first bar that I visited upon my arrival in SF.
I have become a bit of a regular because:
The bartenders are great. Friendly. Generous. Funny.
The crowd is SO diverse, there is someone for everyone. You can go in by yourself, whether male or female, and feel like you are as comfortable as you are in your own living room.
Except you have the chance to make new friends and enjoy old ones in a great fun atmosphere.
It encompasses all of the good attitudes in SF. Tolerance being formost.
go, enjoy, return!
nice atmosphere nice staff. You can't go wrong with the Lone Palm. Nice staff, good drinks, cozy atmosphere!
Yummy cocktails. I always have a good time when friends and I visit Lone Palm. It has a wonderful mix but can get very crowded on Fridays and Saturdays.
Wine in Real Glasses!. I don't know about you, but as a non-beer drinker, I'm always really bummed when my shot o' Merlot comes in one those dinky little juice glasses. I'm a grownup, darn it--bring me my wine in a wine glass! Well, no such problem here. Not only does this nice, mellow bar have nice tablecloth-covered tables and chairs (and candles!), they actually have a pretty decent wine selection for a neighborhood bar, and the wines don't taste like they've been waiting around for a date with the olive oil. One drawback: they don't enforce that smoking ban, no way, so it gets really smoky in here.
