Editorial Review for Lone Palm – by Giancarlo Davis
In Short
The beautiful bar, with its Egyptian-looking bas-reliefs, old photos and pint-sized metal palm is a well-wrought venture into understated Art Deco-nomics. The slick, dimly lit locale acts as romantic refuge from the bohemian bars that generally give an edge to the more rugged Mission District nightlife. By neighborhood standards, Lone Palm attracts a more sophisticated, well-coifed and well-clad clientele, sipping perfect Manhattans at the sleek wood bar or at one of its candlelit tables.

The ExtrasThe one TV behind the bar is the only modern facet, but the classic flicks are broadcast silently and set to the relaxing strains of cocktail music.
On the MenuThere's free snacks on hand (typically pretzels and chips).

the lone palm is the first bar that I visited upon my arrival in SF. I have become a bit of a regular because: The bartenders are great. Friendly. Generous. Funny. The crowd is SO diverse, there is someone for everyone. You can go in by yourself, whether male or female, and feel like you are as comfortable as you are in your own living room. Except you have the chance to make new friends and enjoy old ones in a great fun atmosphere. It encompasses all of the good attitudes in SF. Tolerance being formost. go, enjoy, return!
Pros: bartenders, atmosphere, clientele
Cons: parking, occassionally crowded
