What Our Expert Scouts Say

June 19, 2013

Such a fitting name for such a kick-ass bar! Not only do they have scheduled live music nights, they host bingo tournaments on Thursdays. It's a bit of a way out in Bernal Heights but if you're willing to make the trek, you're bound to have a good time.

A go-to spot for live music, DJs, and cheap imbibing on Mission Street. You may find yourself in the photo booth after a few too many Hamm's + whiskey specials. Cash only.

Great drinks at Great prices. I love this bar! Great drinks, best prices in the city. It's comfortable and they have live music. Worth going a little out of your way.

Great neighborhood bar with live music. I love this place. All of the bartenders are nice and you'll get no attitude from the guy at the door either. The prices are good and the drinks are excellent too. These are real bartenders who know how to make good drinks. The crowd is unpretentious. They have live music most nights and bingo and Thursday. What more could you ask for?

a bar's bar. Eclectic, engaging, stimulating, this bar has it all... yet it manages to be hard to classify. It's an urban bar in the truest sense, and we always enjoy going, whether it's for an early, quiet drink, live music, or whatever. We were torn about whether to tell all of our friends about it, or to not tell anyone and keep it our little secret to ourselves. This place is not exactly a secret, but since it's so far out in the Mission, you're at least guaranteed not to run into any tourists in this place.

GREAT bar - my favorite in SF. Zeitgeist and the Knockout are the two best bars in SF to me.

This place has a pool table, a band in the corner and pint margaritas that will erase a hangover or motivate your evening. A pleasant long walk down Valencia from 16th Street area to the intersection of Mission and there you are. Not too far from El Rio, another great spot. A brisk walk back to the other side of the Mission is not a bad idea after a couple of the margaritas.

Definitely worth checking out.

Best new Soul Joint.... Smooth soul and old ska every Sunday night... the perfect new Mod hang-out (if only people would start going there!) Great beer selection at great prices (including $2 HAMMS!) and a full bar. Super cute and nice bartender behind the bar whenever I've been there! What more can you ask for? Oh, and free pretzels!

Chill, Relax and DRINK. Went with a bunch of friends recently and we had a great time. Drinks in hand - play pool or PAC MAN if you like and at the end of the night you can take mug shots via the photo booth ... very cool and hip!

Eclectic Outer Mission waterhole with live entertainment, theme nights and eye candy galore.. The Scene
The walls are tastefully plastered with a dizzying array of art, including Ray Charles album covers and black-and-white mug shots of famous felons like Al Capone. Fresh roses and weekly newspapers line a counter that runs down the center of the narrow space, while the surrounding crowd sports everything from tattoos to tyedyes. The bar's three arching mirrors reflect a sign reading, "Let the Good Times Roll," and is crowned by the grill of a car, air horns and bongos.

The Draw
Live entertainment is as diverse as the decor -- ranging from Jamaican DJs to banjo bands who take over a stage beneath an electronic bingo board. The bartender serves up a full range of cocktails, wine and more than 12 beers on draft. On the other side of the room, a screen projects the live entertainment for folks playing pool or "South Park" pinball.
