What People Are Saying About Beauty Bar

In Short – Beauty Bar is packed with a healthy mix of neatly dressed types who drive into the Mission and uber-trendy hipsters who live in the 'hood. The scene is right for singles, as most people seem to come in same-sex groups. The DJ booth is sensibly located in the back, relieving inevitable weekend congestion. Though the bar is small and the crowds are thick, people always find room to dance.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- Mission hipsters show up more during midweek, whereas the dressier singles come in on weekends.
- Know Before You Go:
- Try the green-colored, vodka and Midori-based Prell, and the purple-pink Shampoo, with ingredients you're better off not knowing. The menu changes from time-to-time, so check for new flavors and treatments.
- Save Money:
- Order a $10 cocktail and receive a free manicure (Sat-Sun 7pm-2am).
Dance With a Drink In Your Hands...

I have been to every beauty bar in the country and with the exception of the one in Brooklyn,ny Sf's mission District hold the key to a successful Beauty Bar. The /Vintage Hair salon chairs , the gilts and glam of a poppy disco era vibe, with all the jams and grooves of a modern day dance party. Watch the pirate man (bartender) blow fireballs at whim and pour you a delicious drink, then get you booty on the floor and shake it. People are friendly and the crowd always looks good. Plus they remodeled . ITs one of my tops spots in the bay.
- Pros: variety of themes, cheap drinks, fun crowd
- Cons: small, and when its packed its hot.
beauty bar sf... nothing compared to beauty bar la

as a new resident of san francisco (i just moved here from los angeles), I found hope in finding a great dive bar to compare to my favorite LA bar, Beauty Bar. This one's alright on weekdays, music is great, but good luck even getting to the dance floor on a weekend night. It's so small and really is nothing like Beauty Bar LA. Except for the glitter painted walls and manicures, of course. If you are a frequent visitor of BB LA, you'll be disappointed. BB SF is so much smaller, and lacks the charisma that it's cousin in Hollywood portrays. AND the worst part is, there is no smoking room, which was my favorite part of BB LA. Oh well, I'll continue to go, but you'll never see me there on a weekend.
- Pros: photo booth
- Cons: too crowded
Fun

Small, fun bar. Good dancing, fun music. Good crowd. There is actually a photo booth in the back.
great decor, questionable crowd

i love the salon-esque theme, especially the hair dryer chairs. and, they pick djs that play my favorite kind of music - current stuff but mixed in with a lot of old school funk and songs i haven't heard in ages but love. alas, the dance floor is small, the people are weird (where do they come from? does anyone know? LA, maybe?), and the last couple of times i've been there i actually gave up on trying to get a drink from the bar as it was impossible. if you're on mission and in the mood to dance, it's a good option, but i wouldn't plan in advance to go there.
Last night a DJ saved my life!

This place will definitely quench your thirst and keep your feet moving all night long. The staff is super friendly as well as the crowd. I'm a fan of Hip Hop night. The dance floor is really small; so be prepared to sweat the night away next to your neighbor, it's all apart of the fun.
