Good sushi place for vegetarians. This is a great sushi place if you don't eat fish. They have many varieties of veggie nigiri and maki, including several unusual specialty rolls. However, it is an outstanding sushi place for meat-eaters as well. I've never tried anything that hasn't been totally good. They also have a decent dessert menu.
Editorial Review. Bernal Heights favorite moves into its new location with the same island-inspired menu of sushi and South Pacific small plates.
Loving the fish and sexy servers here. Woa, this place has a gorgeous staff and amazing food - the pear and blue cheese salad was inspiring, and the ecstasy, riptide and bernal rolls really ripped. Everyone in our group loved the mix of small plates and super fresh sushi - will definitely come back. LOTS and LOTS of vegetarian sushi, too - really the best selection I've ever seen at a sushi bar- we will be definitely return for more!
I am Japanese and this place sux. I don't want to bore anyone with my experiences eating sushi in San Francisco or compare Moki's to better sushi restaurants (ie the sushi at the food court in Stonestown Galleria is better). I want to say this: the reason the fish is fresh is that there are only four choices. The crab is imitation. The "creative" rolls involve waxy, fatty flavors and little fish. Since when is sushi improved by a hawaiian flavor? I say, only when the sushi chefs have first mastered basic sushi making skills.
best roll ever. My friend and I agreed that the Moki roll is the best we've ever had - macadamias and jalapeno bits were a brilliant combo. The waitress was friendly both times, once we got to our table, but we were offered no service while waiting on the patio.
A great sushi place!. City search had Moki listed as one of the top places for sushi. They were right about Moki. I am normally not a fan of miso, but the miso here was not too salty. Ithad great flavor thanks to the tofu and mushrooms in it. We had the california roll, spicy tunna roll, and the outrigger roll. All were fabulous. The california roll had wonderful cavier, the spicy tuna actually tasted like sashimi should, and the outrigger roll, made of shrimp tempura, had a delicious crunch in the form rice rolll. This place is great and I would definately go again. A lady eating there had the fried banana and ice cream dessert and said it was amazing. That is the next thing I will try.
SUPER FRESH FISH, ots of vegetarian options. My partner and I have been to Moki's a zillion times and to other SF sushi bars, but at Moki's I ALWAYS come away thinking, "that's gotta be the best fish ever!! Iit can get crowded, but that means they go thru tons of fish and its always super fresh. LOVE the Kyoto roll and the Chocolate Decadence--amazing, really. My partner is vegan and finds lots of options on the menu to eat. The back patio's quieter then the front and better for dates -- everyone I've taken to Moki's has absolutely loved it!
Ewwww. The food was awful it was nasty!!!! the food didnt make the wait worth it at all.
On the top of my list. This place serves extremely fresh and creative sushi dishes. The ecstasy roll is so fresh it melts in your mouth. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable. Overall, one of my top choices for sushi in the City. The only negative to the whole experience was the slow service, but for sushi this good, it's something that I can overlook.
We think it's the best in SF. We have tried sushi all over the city, and we consistently love Moki! The fish is fresh and the creations are original. We love the Hawaiian feel to the place. If you haven't been, definitely give it a try. The ectasy roll is FABULOUS.
