This vintage drive-in is a blast from the past on busy South Van Ness Avenue.. In Short
Place an order at the outdoor counter beneath the retro neon sign, then snag a seat at the wooden benches. Diners waiting for their meals engage in car-watching instead of people-watching, which suits the motoring vibe. In addition to the french fries and cheeseburgers, Whiz offers alternative fast food like turkey burgers. But the kitchen keeps it real when it comes to floats and shakes featuring Bud's Ice Cream.

OK food - the owners are jerks. The food is good - but the owners can be mean. If you go, go at night since the owners work during the day.

They would not give me a refund after they made my order incorrectly twice. They had put cheese and mayo on my burger when I specifically asked for it not to have either of those. Then they just wiped it off and gave it back to me. I asked them to remake it - and they did, with mayo on it. I asked for a refund and they refused. This seems to be bad customer service!

whiz bang!. I can't believe this place only has (had) one review. To quote Jules from Pulp Fiction, "That's one tasty burger".

We got the sauteed mushroom burger and with that you get one generous helping of ground mmmmmooooooo beef, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions - the kind of burger you might make on the grill in your backyard. S'nice like that.

...And don't skip the spicy fries.

You get to sit outside on picnic tables too. Just like the backyard (though with Van Ness traffic...)

Saturday Experience. Whiz iz the Iz! The best for chillin with a megashake and a garden burger with friends on the outside, reminds me of Detroit -- great after flea market Saturday mornings or on Friday nights. Hear they've got awesome chili dawgs...
