What People Are Saying About We Be Sushi

There aren't many Japanese places in the city offering sushi rolls with crab, tuna or barbecued eel for less than $5. Whether you think this is a good thing or not will color your impression of this rather roomy, very affordable, health-focused Valencia Street sushi stop advertising food "like Mom used to make." The standard sushi selection is all priced at about $3 for two pieces, bento boxes are around $13 and include rice and miso soup with your choice of sushi, chirashi, tempura, teriyaki and the like. Bottom line? Locals looking to not spend more than they would on a 2-pound burrito come…

Good sushi, great prices

We went here with a large group and ordered a bunch of the rolls off of the sushi menu. The yellowtail and green onion was fabulous, the spicy tuna was very spicy, and the rock n' roll was a favorite (unagi & avacado). Simple presentation, but great taste. Vegetarian sushi was very flavorful also (we ordered the shitake mushroom & eggplant rolls). Recommended if you are looking for simple sushi at great prices.
Excellent inexpensive sushi!

The service is great and the sushi is fresh and delicious. And then when you get the bill, you're even more impressed. And we take the bus to get here!
- Pros: Service, value, good food
- Cons: none
I really like this place

I really like the neighborhood, welcoming vibe in this joint. Sushi is good for the price and just an overall nice stop for sushi.
- Pros: good value sushi, fun
- Cons: busy service
Cheap, but not recommended!

A place to get cheap sushi, but it is almost a disgrace to the art of sushi to call it sushi. It was not very fresh, definitely not presented very well, the selection was super small and the service was absolutely horrible! The atmosphere is not very nice either. Only positive thing to say about this place is that it is very cheap.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: , presentation, low quality food
Great value but just OK food

The ambience and decor is nice (mid-century modern meets Asian/Japanese prints and decoration on the walls, with Brazilian music). The value is fantastic ($25 for sushi for four! no desert or alcohol).
But the sushi itself is just OK. They were skimpy with the Unagi in the Unagi rolls (usually my favorite). I would recommend the yellow tail (very fresh), and the soft shell crab-- the tempura rolls were just OK. Service was quick and efficient, and overall, you really just cannot beat the price. Recommended if you're not too picky and looking for something on the cheap! Definately not the best Sushi out there, but entirely decent if not pretty good.
- Pros: , cheap
- Cons: , nice vibe, skimpy Unagi
