Focusing on the underground sound, the independent record shop (the oldest of its kind in San Francisco) serves as a caring incubator for indie-minded bands. Emerging talents are regularly invited to play special in-store performances -- in the '70s, lucky patrons got to see Blondie, the Ramones and Elvis Costello. The small store is selective with its stock, but clerks are friendly audio experts who write cheeky, hand-written recommendations on those hard-to-find LPs.

"don't go there!". I thought it's cute store and enjoyed browsing there. However, the last time I was there, I was promptly told to leave the store when my cell phone rang. A very snobby girl came over, pointed at me, and then, the door. I was confused. Why I was being ushered out? After realizing I got kicked out for answering my cell phone, I was furious!! It's not like I was in a library or someplace where I was a nuisance. ...but posted on their door is a "non cell phone policy". How snobby is that? ...GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! I can understand that people dislike cell phones, but this Nazi-ish policy is just absurd! The store music was very loud and my 2 second conversation did nothing to distrupt any ambience. I was offended by this silly rule and will never go back. I hope you won't either.

One of the Best!. This hole in the wall cd store stocks things almost as rare as that cute little place in the Castro with all the disco latest. aquarius, however, would rather have you sinking into a beanbag chair than hitting the dancefloor. Really love the staff.
