What People Are Saying About Farmer's Market

In Short – This is the oldest farmers' market in San Francisco with some of the best prices and selection in the city. For fresh produce (including some organics), eggs, baked goods, flowers, and Southeast Asian vegetables, the Alemany market can't be beat. The clientele is as diverse as the products, making for a fun day and great shopping. The prices are low and the quality is high. – –

So fine, it's not packed with upscale, artisan goods, but it's also one third the price! And though people complain about the lack of organic goods ... you just have to look hard. I found organic dates (a bit pricey) and a huge head of organic lettuce (only $1!). It can get crowded, but I spent $20 and left overloaded with bags of produce, breads, cakes and even flowers. I'll take tourists to the Ferry Building market, but I'll shop here for myself.
- Pros: Fabulous variety, Friendly vendors, Cheap as hell!
- Cons: Not as much organic
