Editorial Review for Harringtons Inc. – by Karen Solomon
In Short
No frills used furniture -- some of it maybe even antique -- is found in abundance in this longtime neighborhood residence's massive two stories. Weave through the tightly packed aisles and find victrolas, dressing tables, stoves, ancient office furniture, bone china cups and saucers, and an eclectic array of pieces worth hunting for in this visually busy showroom. While not exactly a bargain, most items cost less than at neighboring shops -- if you're intrepid enough to find them and dust them off.

When I first spoke with them on the phone the woman on the line seemed rushed and not particularly courteous, but I hired them despite that initial red flag. I asked her for moving boxes ahead of time and she said they could provide used ones for $1 apiece. They showed up three days later with just a few brand new ones for $3.50 apiece instead. Second red flag. When I called again to ask for more boxes I had the great misfortune of having to deal with Mr. O'Connor (sp?), the owner, who was incredibly rude, impatient, and arrogant. He wanted to charge me extra for the second delivery despite the fact that they didn't send me enough in the first place. I kindly told him I'd get boxes elsewhere and he hung up, telling me he'd call me back in a few minutes. 1/2 hour later one of their employees showed up banging on my door with a second delivery of brand new boxes. He seemed extremely flustered when I told him I never asked for them and wanted to send them back. When I shared my frustration with him he said the old man is rude to everyone and very difficult to work with so I should not take it personally, but I was literally on the verge of tears. I finally canceled the move and found another company that would with me on a two-day notice. I have never given anyone such a negative rating, but these people do not care enough to deserve anyone's business. If I could give them zero stars I would. They are not to be trusted.
Pros: None
Cons: Horrible service, rude, not trustworthy

The furniture can be cute, vintage, retro..whatever, but the owner doesn't appreciate your business. She looks at you like she is doing you a favor when you buy her overpriced furniture from her. She gave me the wrong measurements on the dresser I bought and when I brought it home I couldn't even fit in my apartment. What a hassle. NEVER AGAIN!
