The Best Quesadillas Ever. I live near the Russia & Mission El Farolito, and I have to say that they have the absolute best quesadillas I have ever had, there are about 3 million taquerias in the mission but I only go to Farolitos. The staff are a bunch of really nice guys, and the carne asada is tender, lean and flavorful. All of the items I have tried have been delicious. The taste and composition of most items differs slightly from day to day, but even a mediocre quesadilla (in Farolito standards) blows everyone else's out of the water. Simply Awesome.
SO GOOD. Huge burritos, nachos, tacos for dirt cheap! the carne asada is tasty and tender, worth every penny ($4.90 a burrito!)
Late Night Grub Food. Most people I know name this as there favorite place. This is the perfect place to go after your bar crawl and apparently everybody else thinks so - it is packed at that time. Go for the beef quasadillas, yum yum! Don't get the burrito, it had to much rice in it. The atmosphere is kind of like a truckstop, mostly men eat/work there. Gloomy neonlights!
Best Quesidilla Suiza in SF. I have had many in San Francisco, and this has the best suiza, with carne asada. Most, it not all other places use chopped steak. Not here, where you get a good slab of beef. Sure, they charge for chips for almost everybody, but the salsa is free, and carries a pretty good kick to it. Good, cheap agua frescos. I like it better here than down the road at La Taqueria. While this place is striclty blue collar, you will enjoy your food.
Farolito is still king!. I've been going to El Farolito for almost 12 years now. It's a bit more expensive than it used to be and they post that they charge for chips (but they don't for the regulars), but it's still best. Friends say they like Cancun better, and some like Papalote because it's "healthier", but I'm a Farolito devotee. Their three salsas at the salsa bar help make it top-notch.
Best Burritto in the city.
But it is on the small side (as far as taqueria burrittos go, still plenty for the buck) and it's a little more expensive than you'd expect.
The food is great, though. It's a must after a fun night boozin and dancing in the Mission.
Best Taqueria!.
Fresh and large portioned but inexpensive food!
This place has the best burritos, quesadillas, and their tacos are stuffed to explosion with meat! Offcourse I can't leave out the delicious tortas! Try it with carne asada...
They have a good variety of fresh salsas made from scratch - my personal favorite is the salsa verde which is made from tomatillos.
Not only fresh salsas but also refreshing aguas frescas which they also make from scratch - the horchata and fresa flavors are lovely!
When you leave, your stomach will be full without your wallet completely empty
Since they're opened late it's always nice to go for a late night bite, but the atmosphere can be a little rough and sketchy. I recommend dining there at lunch or dinner hrs - the staff is more laid back and friendlier since they don't have to deal with drunks and loiterers.
Colossal burritos and cheap prices make this one of San Francisco's most popular taquerias..
In Short
This traditional, gritty taqueria, with its blue and yellow interior, is especially popular with late-night diners. After the local bars close, revelers flock here for the extremely large burritos, filled with fresh meats, such as carne asada, stewed chicken and spicy al pastor. Other fillings include fresh avocado, rice, beans, sour cream and cilantro, all wrapped in a thin grilled tortilla. Green salsa is homemade with avocado and tomatillo.
best burrito!. This place is by far the best burrito I've had. It's huge and so cheap! Their green salsa is also great. I can't pin point what it's made of, but it's absolutely the best. I definitely recommend this place.
Fresh and delicious. El Farlito may lack in decor but don't let that mislead you about their value and quality in food. Your food is made when you order it, with the freshest ingredients. One bite and you'll be hooked and convinced!
