Family-owned grand hotel near Union Square.. The Scene
The property is at a crossroads between prestigious Nob Hill and the more infamous Tenderloin district, so when leaving the hotel, guests should expect to find elements from both sides of the track. Only a few blocks from Union Square and Chinatown, what the neighborhood may lack in ambience, it makes up for in convenience.

The Details
The enormous lobby with cathedral ceilings, crystal chandeliers, towering white pillars and ornate ceilings, dwarves its small dated furniture but still conjures the romance of a glorious grand hotel. Rooms are also unexpectedly large with space for a desk and small sitting area. Suites have a kitchenette, whirlpool bath and a working Murphy bed in the living room. All rooms are pleasantly designed with high ceilings, pale walls, and firm Victorian furniture. Valuable amenities include in-room VCRs, video rentals, a continental breakfast and afternoon wine and tea.
