This stylish boutique hotel was built in 1927 and recently underwent a significant renovation by the Joie de Vivre group. May 2004 saw its grand re-opening. Of note: Oriental rugs, carved furnishings and tribal figurines that give the atmosphere an "international vintage" feel.
The Details
Guest rooms continue the eclectic and exotic theme with color tones reminiscent of Indian and Moroccan fabrics. Soothing blues and creams are offset by glowing colors like saffron and deep tones of red. Because the hotel is not hemmed in by other buildings, most rooms have unobstructed views of the downtown area. The lobby hosts a private collection of travel photographs courtesy of the locally based American Himalayan Foundation. The location is prime, in the best part of downtown with access to all of San Francisco's prize attractions.

I am surprised by the quality of the rooms comfortable and reasonable. The front desk staff were friendliest, helpful people I've ever come across. The property (Hotel) is clean and tidy. The hotel also has a cute restaurant and a computer with internet access, which is very convenient. Service was wonderful, everyone very helpful and friendly. Wine in the lobby every evening is wonderful. Nice opportunity to walk around in neighborhood to discover what it's like to live in San Francisco. It is such a place you will find something different everytime

I love this place! The staff is incredible, the rates are amazing and the wine in the lobby every evening is wonderful. I do not have enough words to describe my fondness for this hotel. I will put up all of my out of town guest here and rest assured they will get the royal treatment for a reasonable price. I almost wanted to pay them more for my stay. Oh and they welcomed my little furry companion and gave her treats!

clean, safe, nice hotel. Small with a very friendly staff, quaint lobby and clean rooms with good bedding. Great price or the value.

A city rarity, this property has unobstructed views on all four sides of the building, allowing for views from nearly every room.
Where to Sit:
In the lobby library, cozy up to the fireplace with a good book and a cup of complimentary coffee or tea.
