Nice, cosy place!.
I'm from Holland and went to Shanghali Kelly's during the holidays in july 2007. I was there when Barry Bonds got his record homerun.
It is a nice small place, where the influence of the regulars can be feld. It is cosy and "strangers" like us are a bit watched at. But after all we had a nice evening and when we are in San Francisco again we will go back.
A rowdy neighborhood sports bar bordering Nob Hill..
In Short
The decor of this tiny corner bar is eclectic, to say the least. The walls are decorated with surfboards, photos, masks, antlers and sports memorabilia. It looks like the TV room in a frat house that has seen random contributions throughout the years. Four TVs show sports, the beer is reasonably priced and it's far too clean to be considered a dive. Kelly's packs a crowd of locals sporting black jackets, cocktail-party clothing and sometimes suits.
Felt like home!. Here we were -- 2 Steelers fans from NC in San Fran for a weekend and we found our way to Kelly's. What a great place! Dave and Ray and the regulars all made us feel right at home -- spent our whole Saturday here meeting great people and having a huge time. People could not have been more helpful and gave us a locals perspective into the area.
Shanghai Kelly's wow !!!.
Hey
I was there the day the place opened!!! was wondering if Mark Jennings, Steve Grilisch and the other guys are still owners of Shaghai's and Micks and if Kit is still behind the bar !!
BooBoo
Wednesdays!. Drink specials on Wednesday are the way to go!! Can't argue with $2 coronas and $3 cosmos :)
nice staff but lacks on beer. I have to say, not one of my favorite areas to go out in, but the staff at shanghai's are great. nice and relaxed. and they have dice cups! the jukebox is lacking and so are the choice of beers. for all the traveling the owner has done, you'd think there would be more imports on tap.
Like my Living Room, only better.
Shanghai Kelly's is one of those places where you instantly know everyone and everyone knows you. A neighborhood bar with people from all over the city, and the world.
Also known for being a Pittsburgh Steelers Bar, be prepared for a party when they play, but don't be suprised when someone buys you a drink. This is a "family" establishment, just keep in mind that this is a "family" built on fun, drinks, football, and food.
