Editorial Review for Frascati – by James Wevley
In Short
A honey-hued main dining room hosts couples and a casual, well-dressed crowd. The menu includes both Mediterranean- and California-inspired cuisine. Start with warm, black Mission figs with balsamic gastrique or a roasted beet salad. Meat entrees include braised veal cheeks and pan-roasted salmon. Dessert offerings include creme brulee, chocolate cake and ice creams. The signature dessert is a black-and-white bread pudding with hazelnut ice cream.

We happened on Frascati by accident and didn't expect much. I thought it might be nice but I was blown away by the Lobster Risotto. It was one of those meals that made me sad as I got closer and closer to the end. I almost ordered a second helping. It was so good I forgot about everything else: service, wine, appetizers. Since I don't remember I suppose they were good. I look forward to going again.
Pros: Lobster Risotto
Cons: ?????

What is Frascati good for? A whole bunch of BAD ATTITUDE. You should only eat here if you want to get yelled at by the service staff for them throwing away your to go box. This is one of those cases where I would give ZERO stars but Citysearch won't let me. After a lovely time stuffing ourselves with savories and bread, I could not eat one more bite of my order of lamb. One order supplies five chops. I couldn't finish my dinner so I asked for a box. So did my halibut girlfriend and my pork chop girlfriend. Halibut and Pork Chop got their boxes right away. When I inquired about my to go box, I was told that it was waiting for me at the door. A few moments later one of the service staff came over and said, "I asked you if you wanted a box and you said, 'No.'" I was shocked because Halibut had asked for a box for both of us and when the service staff took my plate I said that I wanted a box. Perhaps he heard what he wanted to hear. He did not apologize. He said that it was MY FAULT for him hearing that I said that I didn't want a box. He basically called me out in front of the whole restaurant saying that I was making up the fact that I wanted /didn't want a box. I had TWO LAMB CHOPS and 75% of my ratatouille left on my plate. I arranged it to look pretty on my plate. WHO WOULD THROW AWAY $20 leftovers??? Obviously he would. I was shaking mad and asked to talk to the manager. The manager came over and said that he regretted the situation and offered to make a PASTA dish or a BREAD PUDDING dessert for me to take home. YEAH RIGHT. Like a $5 dish will make up for my bruised ego and $50 dinner. He did not once apologize for the situation and he did not once offer to have the service staff come over to apologize for me. The only consolation that I have for tonight is that I was with ten girlfriends who will no doubt spread the bad news of Frascati far and wide.
Pros: There's plenty of bread.
Cons: The service staff will yell at you if he thinks you're wrong.
