Frozen Thai.
Ordered shrimp Pad Thai for take out.
From the taste and smell of my meal you could tell that the chef had used frozen shrimp and the tofu was burnt and definitely not fresh. I can think of at least two Thai restaurants within walking distance that have better tasting food.
Delicious, Delicious and Delicious. My friend recommended this restaurant. After trying it out, I totally agree that this restaurant totally deserves 5 stars. If they have the option of putting more than that, I am more happy to do that. :-) Anyhow, firstly the decoration is stunning. Casual and yet elegant. I like the bold green color. It gives such a contemporary feeling. The waiters are extremely friendly, but not overly friendly. The food are really good. I've order a Pad Thai (my friend recommended this also), Tom Kha (coconut soup) and a dessert I forgot the name..and they all good. So yummy...:-) Ok, talking about the price...it's really cheap...A place easily changes your bad date to perfectly date! Gotta give it a trial! :-)
Editorial Review. Enjoy fried vegetable rolls and other authentic Thai and Southeast Asian food at this neighborhood restaurant in San Francisco.
Underrated Thai in the heart of the City....
Modern Thai has been around for years, but they never seem to get the accolades they deserve. I've been there a dozen times and they are very consistant. The food is excellent, the service polite, with clean surroundings. It's not flashy, but they are a great neighborhood venue, particularly when you want a easy-going spot.
The Polk Gulch area is full of quaint placea and this one that deserves some more recognition.
Pleasantly surprised!. My husband and I were visiting from out of town and decided to give this place a try. We were pleasantly surprised! The menu had a nice variety of items. We started with the papaya salad with side orders of sticky rice this was so authentic (I am half Thai, so I know!). Please eat this with your fingers to be authentic! We ordered the red curry chicken which had a hint of ginger and chicken pad Thai which had a nice blend of rice noodles, bean sprouts, peanuts, chicken, tofu, egg and seasonings. We were too stuffed to get dessert but they looked to have several tasty options. Hot tea complimented our dinner nicely. The ambience was almost romantic and had some Victorian details. Dont let the area keep you away we went at night and it was fine. This is a must try!!
Best Thai Food in City! Give it Your Business!. I absolutely love this place. Not only are the waiters and waitresses really friendly and on the ball, the food is fabulous. My favorite dish there, and of all time, is the appetizer Basil Tofu. My boyfriend and I now consider this 'our place,' and we go all the time. It's cute, good and convenient. Check it out!
Fantastic Thai Food.
Clearly, San Francisco has an immense number of Thai food restaurants to choose from. This is one you should not miss. Although the storefront is plain, and the location might not attract your attention, the food is truly outstanding and is a great value to boot.
Two dishes really stand out, that I have tried: the Basil Tofu and the the Trout Lui-Suan. The latter may be my favoirite Asian meal of all time. The service is very friendly, the menu is solid, and you will not be disappointed.
Attentive Staff. I thought Modern Thai was pretty good. Actually, it was really good. For those familiar with Thai restaurants in the city, it's definitely on par with Marnee Thai. I highly recommend the basil tofu appetizer. The brocolli saute was cooked perfectly, and the Pad Thai dish was solid. The service particularly stands out--they were very attentive. Overall, it was a great dining experience.
